Those two playoff appearances resulted in two quick exits and an overall record of 2-6.

You are free to take that of course if you wish.

But given the comments about "talk to me after the parade," and "we want to compete for multiple championships" that's a poor substitute.

Our tank job was disgusting. If we'd have kept Sale with Abreu and run an organization like most other ones (prospects, spending a little bit of cash)  we wouldn't have needed no stinkin' rebuild/tank job. The way the Sox run rebuilds ... you have ZERO good players on your team while you languish. Crochet is gone so we allegedly have one good player left on our roster (Robert; Beni is at least worthy of a big league uniform).

We also would have had two MVP level talents in Semien and Tatis, but never would have extended them.

Not counting the 1950's and 60's, 2000-2012 is going to go down as the longest record of sustained/sustainable success in White Sox history (under KW).  Seven "really competitive" (85 wins and above) seasons out of 13, or roughly 1/2th the time.   Only one really poor year (2007), unfortunately it followed the biggest year in history for franchise attendance and pretty much destroyed any momentum and 2005/06 teams had generated.   Even then, 2010 and 2012 were "fun/competitive" years.   Now it seems like a miracle just to get back to 60 wins, let alone .500ish.

I would bet on the Sox to go over 49.5 wins, but I will never put a gambling app on my phone. (what could go wrong?)

Las Vegas isn't an option, are there any walk-up places to place this bet in Illinois?

Not sure how IL works, but every Indiana casino has a sportsbook built into it.

I did not know that, I haven't been in a casino in over 25 years. I will check out the Des Plaines casino.

I'm not seeing any reason to take the over. We've signed nobody and lost our best player. Who exactly is a big bounce back contender? We're utter trash. Chicago sports is pathetic.

I was thinking that Crochet was a 5 fWAR player, so even if we talk about the 7 games we under-performed pythagarin by. we just gave away 5 of those wins for guys who probably won't be helping this year.

Exactly. If you think we have 7 wins coming in "positive regression" well subtract 5 right off the bat as well. +2 net.

Plus we're going to have a horrific bullpen so we are likely to under perform pythag again.

Yeah aren’t you the guy who included Shane Drohan as one of our legit pitching prospects in that same discussion lol.

You also wrote this in the Bailey Horn thread back in February:

Thompson is 23 years old, hes still a prospect. Just because you aren't a top prospect doesn't mean you aren't a prospect.

I wasn't making fun with my "thinks we only have 3 pitching prospects" comment. You seem to have a fluid definition of what a prospect is.

I don't understand your trolling here. Shane Drohan was a Rule 5 draft pick who threw a whole 9 innings for the White Sox minor leagues. You included him in your list of "legit" pitching prospects we have.

You claimed Matthew Thompson wasn't a prospect, I corrected you because you were wrong. Please note I never said he was legit or a top prospect, only that a 23 year old in AA should be considered prospect.

Shouldn't you be lurking for SS2K5 posts to argue over?

They gave 38 starts to really bad pitchers last year, and 44 to Thorpe, Cannon (after his 2nd promotion), Burke, Martin and Ky Bush.

You're not really "losing" 8 wins between Fedde and Crochet. If they're replaced by, say, production that's on the level of Flexen, you're losing about 2.5 wins for each slot. I don't think it's a reach to make up 2-2.5 wins just by replacing the negative production in those 38 starts with one of their young starters.

And just by positive regression on offense, you're probably making up the rest.
