Well, there you go.

The PTAC response about baseball for the pure enjoyment of the sport, and not the emotional attachment and correlated high's and low's of winning losing.

But for die hard White Sox fans, those that give up season tickets, don't renew the Sox tv package/MLB.com, don't give Sox-related gifts at Christmas, don't have the next generation of kids growing up as Sox fans, it will definitely affect the fate of the franchise...unless they can find an owner willing to invest $2 billion plus another $500 million to $1 billion into a new stadium development in Chicago.

Once they get back up over .500, the White Sox onesies and pencil pouches will fly off the shelves again.

Again, I used to be a solid Bears' fan. I finally got tired of being angry all year, and dropped the Bears. Perhaps I've gotten that way with the White Sox, but I still watch.

And yet you've spent more hours than the entire Bears' season in real time defending a GM...well, now you have Cali on your side too taking a devil's advocate position since arguing the same points unceasingly was getting too monotonous.

There has been one notable shift.

The Sox fans are no longer getting blamed for this mess...all downward arrows are pointing at ownership's almost deliberate sabotage of the payroll and surrendering media/tv battle almost completely over to Ricketts and the Cubs. Capitulation.

Is Cam any good or will he drive us to booze?

Just being "more than a casual fan of the White Sox" drove the majority of us to booze/drugs as a coping mechanism, with or without the presence of a Booser in the bullpen.

Well, there was Boof Bonser and Carlos Boozer and Cameron/Cayden Boozer, so why not this guy with the cool-sounding name and pretty incredible backstory???

I don't know if Booser pans out at 32, but it wouldn't surprise me if he has some success.

Relievers come out of nowhere sometimes, look at Chafin with the Cubs. Granted he was a 1st round pick and was respectable and then at 30 years old put together 3 awesome seasons out of the pen. The Cubs flipped him at the trade deadline in 2021 to Oakland.

Liam Hendricks is another example of a 30 year old finally putting it together and becoming an All Star.

There’s a 99.9% chance this turns into a nothing for nothing trade.

Just remember how long Rick Hahn played that game. For 20 years we heard about how the guy we gave away wouldn’t turn into anything of value and they were almost always right…until all of a sudden it was wrong.

I get that. And in a nothing for nothing trade, I'd error on the side of youth and keep the younger player. But we will see what this guy has. He was decent in the majors last year but has been awful in the minors except when he pitched for the Chicago Dogs.

i dont know that we have to put the chances THAT high. we just saw something like this where we acquired Middleton cheap and built him up to then be worth Juan Carela, who is a nice starter prospect that is at least good enough to have had to protect in rule V draft

Tatis, Semien, Bassitt, Gio, Montas, Escobar, Reed, Hudson, Devenski.

Maybe I’m wrong but wouldn’t most teams have a list similar to this if you look back over the past 15 years? Even a great org like the Dodgers has traded prospects Yordan Alvarez and Carlos Santana away in that timeframe (both were absolutely brutal trades), among many others I’m sure.

It’s not so much that the Sox have traded away prospects that went on to have success but it’s that when they have they haven’t acquired enough talent in return and/or been competitive enough to make it count.

Two MVP caliber/perennial All-Star players+ is pretty bad in return for James Shields and Jeff Samardzija.

And how about Josh Fields and Casey Blake? Because those were the returns for Yordan Alvarez and Carlos Santana. Pretty bad.

The Dodgers also have two World Series championships and have been to the playoffs 11 years in a row, so they get a pass.
