Timmy U
Good trade for the Phillies. I am suspicious of glove-first shortstops that far from the majors. A lot of utility player risk.
Balta1701
Was Boyd the main person people would have wanted in a Crochet trade with Philly?

No. Miller and/or Crawford are the key bats people want from Philly
caulfield12
https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/marlins talk about a perpetual rebuild lineup...they do have the makings surely of a nice youngish rotation, but Alcantara another guy who eventually gets traded when he gets too expensive in all likelihood Eury Perez's health one of the keys to that team's future Burger trade a head scratcher to Marlins' fans as well not much fun competing with NYM Philly and Atlanta Edited Sunday at 08:30 PM by caulfield12

A lot of utility player risk. I'm of the thinking that the only actual shortstops are these glove first prospects, that the rest of them are third basemen/left fielders masquerading as shortstops for attention/minor league system value. He's 19 but you can see his floor pretty clearly. I guess a guy like that can turn out like Cristian Pache, but I'd also still give Pache a shot. He signed with the DBacks, fine by me, I watch them sometimes, but I was hoping it would be with the Sox, he could start in CF after a Robert trade or at least play a utility role. I'd rather have a glove-first player at SS/CF which is why I think Robert is such a special player and shouldn't be traded for low value players, he's a glove-first guy who can actually hit the ball occasionally. Pretty rare profile. Wanted Caba on the Sox if he was part of a Robert trade. Maybe not the main piece, but there are no true shortstops in the system to my knowledge...Montgomery and Bonemer are 3B and Gonzalez is a 2B if he even makes it out of the minors. I guess I like this trade for both teams, I think Luzardo is pretty good but had a tough 2024 + injuries, I would've thought MIA would've had to play him a little bit to show off his stuff, but Caba is a real nice get for them.

I like guys who can hit and they can work on the glove. Gunnar Henderson is an example of a good athlete people kept saying would have to move to 3b. With good coaching, he has made himself GG-caliber. Bonemer is a guy like that for the Sox. Bigger guy, great athlete. His D has been good as an amateur, but the ba is the carrying tool. Give me guys like that.
