It’s scary how reminiscent their rebuild path is following the most recent white Sox rebuild.

The Elias quote about Grayson is giving off real Rick Hahn circa 20-21 vibes.

”If everyone stays completely healthy and reaches their 99th percentile outcome, it won’t matter that we didn’t make any bigger signings.”

Yep, which is why the Sox need to start shopping from the upper tier of free agents instead of the bargain bin. Orioles are pulling a white Sox and shopping from the bargain bin. It’s scary how reminiscent their rebuild path is following the most recent white Sox rebuild.

Without their farm system, and those players being in place at the MLB level,  we are still YEARS behind them even in a best case scenario.

Cool story but neither franchise is winning anything of importance if they continue shopping in the bargain bin for free agents so who cares

Yep.  The Orioles at least have players that have actually panned out in the majors.  We are sitting here hoping that our first wave of prospects actually will.  And we all know that top prospects always pan out in the majors, just like the Sox first rebuild…

This isn't happening until they have new owners.

Famous last words, and that totally sounds like Hahn.

”If our entire roster stays healthy all season and has a great season, we’ll win a lot of games!!!”

To be clear, my quote is just snarky paraphrasing of what Elias actually said about Grayson, but the essence is there.

I am all for pointing and laughing at the O's.  I got a lot of joy out of watching them go 0-5 in the past 2 postseasons.  And they still don't have the pitching to compete in the playoffs.

But let's also take a step back and realize how good of a position player foundation they have.  They may not have a top tier farm anymore, but when you have Gunnar Henderson, and Jackson Holliday, and Jordan Westberg, and Adley Rutschman, and Cody Mayo, and Heston Kjerstad, and Colton Cowser - do you really need an elite farm system?  That team is going to be good for a long time.

They have no quality starting pitching other than Grayson Rodriguez and refuse to spend money to get difference makers in the rotation. They are going to piss away their window because of that.

I lose more and more interest each year with Jerry as owner. I have zero expectations for this franchise winning a pennant until he’s gone.

You know, removing the Goose Island statue in 2022 can honestly be considered the first open act of JR “Killing the golden goose” literally and figuratively

Eflin is underrated by most...and there's this player named Gunnar Henderson who very might well be an MVP if not for Witt/Judge.

That can make up for a lot of shortcomings.

As they say, pitching wins championships. I don’t think Baltimore has enough of that.

The Hangout is convinced Pablo Lopez, Framber, Luis Castillo, Cease or a Pirates starter not named Skenes is there for prospects that they are shockingly overvaluing again.

Or counting on Sasaki...but even most Padres' fans seem to be scared of the Dodgers at this point.

I'd suspect it would require Dean, Mouncastle and Povich. That'd be a lot to give up but Pablo is a very solid Top 2 in your rotation guy.

Completely agree on Eflin. Tough to say they don't have any quality guys but yeah, they should be going for more stability than 41-year old Charlie Morton and an unknown in 35-year old rookie Sugano. By my count, they've only really got 3 starters, depending on how those older guys do.

Kremer Povich Suarez as fifth for now...they did lose Irvin and Means, but doing the traditional KW Deadline flirtation seems to be the preference, rather than ocercommitting money before the season has even started.

All depends on keeping Rodriguez healthy across a full season...and him taking that next step like Skubal or Crochet last year.

This is like dinging Frank Thomas for the 2000 playoffs against the Mariners.

Witt was terrible against the Yankees, for example.

It happens to even the best players, like Judge as well in the WS...or Soto.

Or when Edman and Lux might outplay Betts and Ohtani enough to...

My point isn't that Henderson is now bad, it's that offense does go on a 2 day vacation while you still need top level starting pitching in the playoffs.
