I’ve conceded that they will never be a real contender as long as Jerry owns the team so I’m not worried about future hypotheticals. Under that premise, at least give me a few players my kids can cheer for today and a non embarrassing mlb product.

Maybe instead of going on about Reinsdorf making dumb FA signings so your kids aren't embarrassed, you should send them to therapy to learn how to deal with other children mocking their own choices. Do you demand that Chicago move it's entire self to Florida when other children mock your kids for living in a city where it drops down to negative temperatures?

Too late for half assed measures.  This is already the most embarassing team in baseball.  A few C list free agents doesn't do anything to fix that.  Its the draft picks we punt on and resources we giveaway for those players who might actually make this a worthwhile franchise in a couple of years, assuming Chris Getz found someone way better at player dev than he ever actually was.

You are already far ahead of many posters at the acceptance stage.

Take your kids to the nearest ballpark and one-handed swing a few dingers.  They can cheer for you over the Sox current collection of scrubs.

We’ve been checking out the Chicago Dogs instead. Far cheaper and great family fun.

Imagine someone making snide comments about another poster’s children just because they have the strange obsession to defend Jerry and Getz, an awful MLB owner and GM, to the bitter end.

I won’t even try to understand that sort of insanity.

If the white Sox were looking to spend money this offseason, their goal should be guys who can be helpful to them in 2 or 3 years - either because they’re young enough to still likely be excellent then or because they’re have a nonzero chance of being tradable.

Soto would have fit into the first group, but well…

In the second group, I would have said guys like Walker Buehler who got 1/$21 million possibly coming back from TJS, Yusei Kikuchi who was excellent in the 2 month he spent with Houston’s pitching coaches but only got a 3 year deal because of previous inconsistency, or a 2 year deal for John Means who just had his second TJS this year are the type of moves that could generate trade value.

However, Getz also loaded up on previously mediocre relievers in trades, so a big downside of any of these is also that it costs a 40 man roster spot and that means releasing someone with some promise now as well.

There are many players and prospects that the WSox have to cheer for. Lighten up, enjoy the game and I bet your children will follow your lead and do just the same.

Think I’ll save the money, like Jerry likes to, and take them to a few Chicago Dogs games again instead. Much closer to home and easier to get to while saving a lot of money with great seats to watch a game.

Another Sox flaw...having all the minor league affiliates bunched together in SE to save money and time on travel but far away from team's geographic base.

South Bend back in the day was the closest...Midwest League.

I think the Chicago Dogs should sign Alonso and Kim. Sounds like they're raking it in hand over fist.

WestEddy is the new Greg, iconoclastic defender of all things Getz-related.

It's going to be a LONG next 2-3 seasons at this rate.

Iconoclastic defender my ass. What tends to make things a drag here is actually the reverse of what you allege - it's the constant drone of sarcastic trolls, cub fans, and know-it-alls  hating on the Sox, or trying their best to depress true Sox fans, their friends  and even their own children from attending White Sox games or enjoying the players and the games.  Not worried about seeing any of those keyboard commandos at Sox Fest, Camel Back or at the park this season.

I think the Sox themselves do a good enough job on their own as an organization depressing us...realistically, the team is not going anywhere without their own home grown, cost-controlled superstar.  All the hand-wringing in the world isn't going to change a thing, nor will it be enough to change the narrative five years from now without a new stadium bought and paid for.

Yea, it’s better to take shots at other people’s children like @WestEddy. Only the bottom of the barrel and true scumbags do that. Not worried about missing any of those at the park this season.

41-121.  Jerry is the one to blame.

When somebody whines about the same dumb thing for over a week, then blames it on their kids, then your main reason for the dumb thing you want will be mentioned back.

Nobody "took shots" at your kids. You brought it into play.

I’m guessing you don’t go around telling people that they should send their kids to therapy in person, just on the Internet.  That’s how someone gets smacked upside the HEED.

If somebody was constantly arguing dumb things because their kids can't handle being jeered by their friends over a $150 jersey, yeah, I would suggest therapy. What I wrote wasn't "taking a shot" at his kids. Perhaps BELIEVE dude could use a couple of sessions to learn how to calm down when life doesn't go his way.

Pretending you're a violent tough guy is pretty much frowned upon in real life, also.

Who blamed what on whose kids? Me mentioning my kids are totally disengaged with following the Sox because of the current state of this sad franchise gives you the right to say they need therapy? What the f*** is wrong with you? You’re a total clown

Seeing you calling me names 4 days later tells me that I surely must have said something wrong. So, I'll apologize, and say that I'll never say anything to you about your kids again.

I was wrong. Sorry.

Honestly...anyone still having 100% faith/belief/confidence in the White Sox legitimately fixing things and being back to the same consistently competitive team they were from 2000-2012 without an ownership change might be the ones needing therapy.

We might have more in common with "abuse" survivors, but more of the psychological variety...having mostly inherited Sox fandom for family reasons, it's almost something tantamount to Stockholm Syndrome.

Not all of us can be like Ptac and Texsox and just enjoy the essence of the game in some kind of esoteric James Earl Jones Field of Dreams sense...but if y/our team is already eliminated on Opening Day, it takes a lot of the enjoyment of the sport away.  Especially with the amount of time energy and effort following closely over 162 games, ST and then another month of playoffs requires.

You can follow other teams, prospects/draft, MiLB, NCAA...fantasy or rotisserie teams, but it's just not quite the same.
