I could see them caring about Twitter and Reddit, but this board is basically dead. There hasn't even been a new poster that contributes much in years and the majority of old posters only lurk.

What exactly would they be paying me for, to say Jerry is a trash owner, Getz seems like he has a plan and Yoan Moncada seems like a decent human being?

No one is paying you to say anything.

High level members of the front office, both in marketing and baseball ops visit the board frequently. If you don’t want to believe it, that’s your choice, but it would make you wrong.

I know for an indisputable fact Chicago teams care about message boards. To the point that moderators of one team message board receive team swag deliveries directly from the team.

Nothing entertains me more than the people who do nothing but complain about this place, yet has to be here every day to correct people... almost as if needing to influence public opinion.

How does WBWF not have a front office job yet?  One can only wonder.

When you get destroyed in a discussion, always change the subject.  Excellent strategy.

Destroyed? We aren't even debating anything. I say this board is dead (25 active members on a Saturday night) and the mods think it's still relevant. Clearly we have a different definition of an active message board. In fairness, it's a dead medium, but 25 active people? Come on.

In your post on the previous page of this thread, you claimed the following — “Of course they [the White Sox] don't give a s%*# about this message board.”

A mod of this board, who can see the users that sign up along with their names, email addresses, etc., responded to your claim with the following — “High level members of the front office, both in marketing and baseball ops visit the board frequently.”

You were wrong.  The end.

You think that's evidence? This board is the 228th busiest baseball site with a message board. These numbers are public.

To put this into context, this all started because I wished Moncada the best and that post has the most "likes" in this thread. Maybe traffic is down because of people like you and not people like me. IDK.

In the past, Rick Hahn even stated that he reviewed Sox message boards.  I’m not sure why this is some big surprise.  Also, perhaps traffic is down because the Sox absolutely suck and fans are fed up with Jerry’s clown show?

Rick Hahn reading this message board a few years ago is a much different conversation than SS2K accusing me of being a plant that is paid by the Sox. Think of how stupid and paranoid that thought process is.

Imagine following a team where the best and perhaps only hope for the future is the owner dying so this his family can avoid paying capital gains taxes…that team/fandom is held hostage for a generation of fans over essentially $100-150 million.

And the team’s value is falling by the day.

Who is penciled in as the Sox 3B and SS this season. Has to be a worse combo than even last year. It's scary that on paper we should lose every series we play this season. The Sox are a bunch of no names. I'd like someone on this board to write me 6-12 paragraphs on a best case scenario for our team for THIS season. It's hard for me to predict even fewer wins than 2024 but to me this is a far worse club than 2024. .... To me, I've never seen a weaker bunch of stiffs on the infield and catcher (hitting wise) and there has never been a no name pitching staff in Sox history like this one. I will say the outfield is OK with Beni and Robert. I'm actually surprised Beni is still with this club. He'd be perfect back on the Royals.

Expand

Why do I need 6-12 paragraphs when you ask for best case scenario ? Here it is in a nutshell . Everyone becomes great. Sox go 162-0 and sweep their way through the playoffs and World Series. Can't get any better than that.

Any realistic answer requires at least Brewers-level free agent spending and likely a new stadium…

Sports fandom is completely irrational. Most people still follow teams regardless of outcome. The Bulls are a great example. They lead the league in attendance yearly despite being owned by Reinsdorf and having 25 years of abysmal leadership.  The White Sox have won 1 championship over the last 107 years. Sox fandom is even more irrational as it also has a cultural and micro geographic factor. It's a lot bigger than Jerry Reinsdorf.

You just mentioned two franchises that have been abysmal for decades outside of a decent season here or there.  Reinsdorf is still the common denominator.

That's truly impressive about the Bulls. To me, a playoff only fan now, I would NEVER consider watching a regular season Bulls game. What a mediocre team. None of their players interest me. For fans to care and pack the stadium, wow. Truly impressive to me.

Many of those fans may simply be attending to watch the other team or to see superstars like LeBron, Anthony Davis, Luka, Nikola et al.  Granted the money still goes to the organization but I wouldn't say that every fan or even most fans who attend are Bulls fans. Not after basically seeing garbage for the last 25 years.

"Now, I always like to mention that the Bulls do have the benefit of owning the biggest arena in the league. A larger capacity obviously means an ability to welcome in more fans on any given night. With that being the case, it’s also helpful to look at the capacity percentage, which was down significantly earlier this season. ESPN has yet to report this data, however, and it’s not like those results would make these other numbers significantly less meaningful. The Bulls are still bringing in more paying customers than any other organization in the league, which I’m sure is music to this front office’s ears.

Indeed, with results like these, it’s hard to believe ownership is putting any kind of pressure on the guys upstairs to change anything. The Bulls – who have gone into the luxury tax once since their inception – are all about making money. The product on the floor has sure felt like it’s come second in recent years."

And with the White Sox...rapidly diminishing attendance isn't resulting in MORE pressure on the front office.

It's actually resulting in less, (which is 50% of the reason Venable probably took the job)...the decision after last year to strip it all the way down and run the lowest payroll in the league in 2025, 2026 and maybe even 2027 if the prospects don't all hit the ground running or get injured.
