WhiteSox2023
Once Robert is traded, will this be one of the oldest outfields in baseball!? LF Benintendi (turning 31 in July) CF Taylor (34) RF Tauchman (34) / Slater (32)
WestEddy
White Sox view Michael A. Taylor addition as a way to preserve Luis Robert Jr. legs with a well-rated defender while keeping him in the lineup. greg775
This isn't a way to run a franchise. Have the fans wondering if you possibly can have a worse record this year than 2024. Absolutely no moves of consequence in the offseason. If we win 60 games he's manager of the century. 1
Timmy U
My general feeling is bleah. But I actually want to watch Robert play some before they decide to lean even further into the suckitude. I thought the 121 loss season would have taught them not to sign a bunch of washed up vets on their last contracts. Guess I was wrong. But Taylor can also play LF against lefties to spare Benintendi the humiliation., so there’s that.

Expand Love this signing, even if it doesn't move the needle, this guy is one of my favorite players. He can actually play CF, I suspect he can still play the position well in his "advanced" age. Can he hit the ball anymore? Doesn't seem like it. Thought we should've signed him as a fourth outfielder last year. He still put up 0.9 WAR last season, that's probably our best position player right? I think he could still ops for .700ish and he's not going to make a fool out of himself on the defensive end. Was halfway interested to see if Fletcher could figure it out...but I doubt it so I'm not mad about it. I'm always skeptical of signing minor league/low value contracts for the "potential trade value" (see robbie grossman) but I think Taylor is a guy who could actually still turn it on and be a useful piece to a team trying to make the playoffs, otherwise I'm happy to watch him play CF after a Luis trade. I'm also back on the 'keep Luis' bandwagon.

Balta1701
So if Robert isn't traded, and this is a major league deal, The bench would look like: Taylor Backup Catcher RF Platoon (Whoever is not in lineup that day) Either they're going to go a pitcher short, or that would leave 2 backup outfielders and 1 backup infielder for any average given day. Expand THat's how it would go, but you also can't use him as the backup on a given day. That also means you better have someone on your roster who can cover all 4 infield positions, because any of those guys could get hurt - including shortstop. Someone, whether it's on of the RFs or the catcher, would need to be the primary backup 1b, and I'm not sure who the backup shortstop is. Most likely they'll "Kluge" it and pretend that they have a backup SS when they're talking about Sosa or Rojas, but neither of those is close to idea. The obvious result is trading Robert, but if that's not done, it sorta makes a mess of the infield.
