DirtySox
Keith Law has 4 White Sox players in his 25 MLB rookies most likely to have an impact in 2025 regular season article. Burke, Teel, Shane Smith, and Meidroth. Will share the Burke/Meidroth portions. Quote 9. Sean Burke, RHP, Chicago White Sox (Top 100 Rank: Just Missed) If Burke is healthy, he clearly belongs in Chicago’s Opening Day rotation, and he might be in the middle of it. His stuff is not the issue, with a mid-90s fastball up to 99, a plus curve, and an above-average slider/cutter hybrid; he’s just always hurt, throwing 252 total innings in three-plus years in the minors. The White Sox should start him if possible, because who knows how long he can go before he’s hurt again, and at least he’ll get a major-league salary while the White Sox get what could be one of their best starters. Expand Quote 25. Chase Meidroth, IF, Chicago White Sox (White Sox No. 13) If you’re looking for Colson Montgomery, who is even listed on Chicago’s depth chart on MLB.com as their primary shortstop, well, I don’t think he can play shortstop, and he hasn’t hit well enough in Triple A for me to ignore the first point. Meidroth should make the team, even as a utility guy, as he can play several positions and his on-base skills are good enough to … I mean, the White Sox had a team OBP of .278 last year, of course Meidroth (.437 OBP in Triple A last year) would help, it’s not a high bar to clear here. And he’d allow them to return Montgomery to Triple A to let him continue to develop, to work on mechanical and approach changes they’ve been trying to help him make. All 3 have to hit . No more room for Vargas and Sosa if they don't breakout. Expand I don’t believe Sosa is a “DH type”. He has played SS throughout his minor league career. I know he’s been terrible in the majors, but I’m certainly not ready to write him off at 2B yet. If he can’t field 2B or 3B, then he’s most likely a lost cause as the bat won’t play up enough at 1B or DH.

Expand I do think it’s important to take certain elements of last year with a grain of salt though. Being historically bad and having one of the most pathetic managers to ever lead a club takes a toll over time. No doubt the young players should be motivated enough to overcome some of these things, but unfortunately these guys are human and s%*# takes a toll. This club still sucks, so we will find out fairly quickly if having a better leader makes a difference in that regard. Lip Man 1
Read two notes in the Sun-Times this morning in a story from Mark Gonzales. Berrora has a strain and doesn't need TJS "for now" (direct quote). We'll see what happens after a few months of rest. More importantly Venable said that he "hoped" Ramos would be able to resume throwing by "the end of spring training." Guess he isn't making the team to start the year.

Expand I think they're being as nurturing and supportive as possible to the young players. They got new R & D, new manager and coaches all buying into vision of the promised land.
