I don’t think it’s going to be White. He’s in Charlotte rotation. I’m curious to see what they do. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them DFA or release Carela at this point. They can’t put him on 60-day since they sent him down. They can’t carry him all season.

He’s on the IL.

Roughly half of the pitching injuries are to guys who barely break 90.

Carela Thorpe and Gilbert can barely break glass.

And Adams is hardly a flamethrower.  More of a finesse guy.

Who is getting DFAed to make room for the three NRI’s?  Two people got to go and it’s harder to see who that is with Eisert on the major league roster and us claiming Greg Jones.

That would really suck to DFA Carela.  He’s not a huge piece, but a team coming off the worst season in baseball history can’t afford to dump a top 25 prospect with three options.

Carella's really not an "impact" arm. That might just be a guy who slips through waivers over opening day because teams have too much else going on to take up a 40-man spot for the entire year (and off-season).

How the f*** does the worst team in MLB have a roster crunch? This is absurd.

I'd be very shocked if anyone claimed him. In all likelihood he'll be knocked off the top 30 by the end of the year anyways with the injury.

We have some very smart Sox experts and baseball minds on this site. When the roster comes out, please start a thread and go through each player and tell us normal fans if that player could make the roster of any other team and rate them on a scale of one thru ten. thank u

Chris Getz decided to sign a bunch of vets that didn't raise the bar and got injured and to remedy the latter issue he signed more bad vets.

Absolutely genius at work. Truly, its like watching Michaelangelo on speed.

Yea this is what I was digging at in the Getz grade thread I guess. I mean maybe he's overhauled some aspects of the org but there's still the same old problems that have infected us for years, even when we were on the upswing.

Speaking of which is Nomar Mazara available???

It's quite interesting to see a bunch of former, very recent, sox players playing together on the same teams:

  • Boston: Crochet, Giolito, Hendriks
  • Atlanta: Bummer, Sale, ReyLo
  • San Diego: Cease and Sheets. Tatis if you want to count him.
  • Angels: Moncada, Anderson, Nicky Lopez, almost Yolmer

I also find it interesting how the two of those very good organizations have all our former pitchers, and the subpar organization has our former positional guys.

The only anomaly is Burger on the Rangers...who are one of the leading competitors for the AL Pennant IF deGrom stays healthy.  Yes, a HUGE IMMENSE MASSIVE GARGANTUAN IF.

No thanks.

Nobody cares that much about our major league roster.   I only want to watch Shane Smith and Booser pitch, to be honest.  I guess Martin, as well.

Zero interest in anyone on the OD roster other than Robert's trade value...well, I guess there's Baldwin, who the White Sox are already casting in the utility man role that disappeared the likes of Marcus Semien and Romy Gonzalez.

I at least spent two years working for a professional baseball team and have an MS in Sports Admin from one of the better graduate schools in the country in the 1990's for that major.   I was Director of Stadium Operations and PR for the Augusta GreenJackets in 1994 and 1995 (South Atlantic League champions), and also worked for an NFL football player's charitable foundation after that.  We introduced the most successful-selling hat in all of MiLB (168 teams) at that time, for example.  We also had our games on ESPN during the baseball strike (had just built a new stadium as well), and I worked with Steve "Psycho" Lyons to put on one of those broadcasts. Our owner was Bill Scripps from Scripps-Howard News Syndicate out of San Diego/La Jolla/Scripps Cancer Institute.  (Of course, back then, minor league team valuations were still in the single digit millions of dollars.)

One of my best friends from that program is still Director of Pro Scouting for the Atlanta Hawks after starting out as a mere video intern with the Orlando Magic in 1992, to the Supersonics, to the Bucks (George Karl connections) and Atlanta (Karl coaching tree).

What qualifications do you have, exactly?
