He goes on Bernstein/Holmes shows on 670 and its like "this is a smart fan's take" but he never says anything interesting or insightful. Its always the same old easy second guessing crap. I remember one time they were obsessing over some minor roster transaction like leaving Jake Peter off the 40 man roster before a rule 5 draft and that's when I decided to unfollow all of them. I also hate his voice. Jim isn't as bad. And Fegan is good... but I have no interest to subscribe to the patreon just for Fegan. Expand When Margalus ran SouthSideSox, it was a bit more of a free-for-all, and people were carrying on for days when Jake Peter was traded, or Jordan Guerrero wasn't added to the 40-man for Rule 5 protection. I think Jim has always had interesting and inciteful takes, and the comments at SoxMachine are more intelligent. Josh has always just droned on about the outrage du jour in his lowbrow, meathead fashion. Jim and James Fegan offer the most focused and in-depth analytical discussion of White Sox issues of any blog, I've found. Everybody else just seems to be recitations of the latest press releases and listicles, whereas Margalus will put forth a thoughtful article on how the trade of Aaron Rowand for Jim Thome was the beginning of a decade of ill-conceived maneuvers to fill the gap in CF they created with that trade.
greg775
So Montgomery starts the season in AAA and Sox have no shortstop cept Sosa? That's what The Score said. Why did Sox dump Nicky if they had no SS? He'd be OK defensively while hitting .240 or so. I know the tank lovers really don't care about this season at all, just having the calendar flip by heading into another winter. But I think Getz should be fired just for putting together the worst roster in club history (even in a tank year you can get a few better players than this collection). The pitching staff on paper is the worst in team history when you look at the four-inning starters and bullpen guys. The lineup is full of nothing. surprised there's no Nicky or DeBong to at least field 85 percent of the grounders hit that way.

There's also Baldwin (although I think his future is more utility), Jacob Amaya, Meidroth (more of a 2B IMO), Tristan Gray, William Bergolla, Jacob Gonzalez (mid-first round draft pick from two years ago, LSU) and Nick Maton (more a 2B again, but can play SS as well). At this point, I wonder if he hasn't been healthy for the last 2 years and if his back issues are so debilitating that he might not make it. Trainers can't really judge pain. He has a plus eye, and his inability to turn in pitches up in the zone is a major red flag that he's in more pain than he admits.

CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Getz doesn't seem like he had any interest in giving some of the bullpen minor leaguers a fair shake at making the team opening day ,which is a shame since some of the better ones from last year are already 26. But he stockpiled so many older tradable arms he's giving them priority to pitch until they get traded then perhaps add in the younger guys depending on their minor league numbers. So sometimes the make them earn it stuff doesn't really fly. Pallette did nothing but impress and he's back down. After that no else else was given much of a chance. McGough got some innings but got roughed up. Leasure still with a shot but he's on the 40 already.
