Mike Clevinger is back lol

I’m upset because this means @Balta1701 is likely gone for another year.

Remember how there were questions about how Clevinger could have been traded in 2023 but some posters argued that his $4 million dollar buyout was preventing teams from having interest in him, rather than his off-the-field issues?  Well, it is now the third year in a row and literally no other team will touch this guy but the Sox.  I think we officially know the answer now.

This douchebag is now 34 years old.  He brings zero upside for a 100 loss team.  Even if he actually pitches well rather than getting injured yet again, no other team wants his ass.

Clevinger is just another sh1t-stain besmirching this bottom of the barrel organization.  He is the load of barnacles that get stuck to a boat, that the boat owner can never scrape off successfully.

Getz truly is a grade A jackass.  It’s too bad he isn’t obsessed with actual good players, just cheap old vets and jagoffs like this.  Getz should be working on acquiring Canario, not this waste of DNA.

This has to be that minority owner flexing what little muscle he has. It’s the only thing that sort of makes sense.

Who cares?  Getz is in charge of player acquisitions, not some minority owner.  Maybe he should grow a fucking sack and cut off this twisted family and friends with benefits deal.  We aren’t trying to sign Machado again and the minority owner can find another buddy in Chicago to party with instead of dbag Clevinger.

The Sox operate as if their goal is to alienate as many fans as possible.

maybe it actually is.

Exactly, they continue to alienate what remains of a small fan base and in a few years no one will care if they decide to leave Chicago.
A little bit of me still cares but it continues to dwindle.

Disregarding everything that everyone thinks about him as a person, this guy has literally stolen 2 season of pay from this organization and gave us 28 games and like a 5 era.  WHAT IS THE DRAW HERE

With moves like this one has to be really concerned with Getz and his modus operandi. IMHO the guy is a disaster and has no business being the GM of a MLB franchise. I’m starting to despise him as much as Reinsdorf and Grifol.

The only reason the Cubs cut Canario in the first place is because they needed a 40-man roster spot to add Justin Turner.  They wouldn’t want a guy that would require yet another 40-man roster spot in either Colas or Fletcher.

SSHM and Balta threatened to quit the board over this lol before..although have since seen the former name in the SoxMachine threads on Fegan Margalus Nelson articles.

Same poster that always provided graphs facts background like Jay Cuda I guess.

You go through all the trouble of casting out the so called bad apples from the 2022-23 25 man roster and THEN you disrespect your clubhouse and female fanbase by deliberately counting more controversy?

This is dumb in so many ways they're impossible to count.

What the heck is Venable thinking about all this?  Surely he was notified?

Too early for April Fool's right?

His teammates seemingly don’t have any issues with him.

I believe this is true but it’s still pointless. Even if you don’t care about the public blowback, there’s no upside. You can’t even flip this guy for anything. Just a pointless signing.

At one time, not that long ago, the Sox had a legacy of social justice achievements that landed them on the right side of history in the 20th Century. That will not be true about the 21st century.

I trust Getz with following through with a successful rebuild as far as I can throw him.

That’s my big beef.  Obviously I think he’s a piece of s%*# person, but I just don’t see the point here.  He must be more liked in the clubhouse than we think.

My thoughts exactly.  Outside of being a dude to eat innings, which we don’t really need, he provides zero upside to the org.  And I’m the dude arguing a platoon OF in Austin Slater could have theoretical trade value.  I just don’t see any team wanting, or at least giving up something for Mike, when they could have signed him in free agency the past two seasons on the cheap.

I will say, this makes me concerned there is some other injury we don’t know about or Thorpe is in worse shape than we realize.  It just feels like if everyone is healthy, we have enough arms to have a full OD rotation, even after the Bush injury.  Perhaps this just an insurance policy and the plan is to cut him prior to OD if no one important gets injured.

No angle exists where this isn’t an absolutely horrendous signing. Not the player angle, not the person angle, not the minority shareholder angle.

This organization deserves all of the failure, negativity and mockery that comes its way, but the fans deserve so much better.

This sucks.

But he can't even do that!
