So even if Ishbia has more shares than Reinsdorf, Reinsdorf is still calling the shots? Is that what Im hearing? Does Ishbia need 50%+ to get full control?

Expand

The shares that Ishbia is buying now already gave up voting rights to JR.  He has full control.  For that to change, JR has to give up control himself, or die.

To be clear. I think if he dies, the control goes to his family if they were to keep their shares.  He’s basically got to sell control to be relieved of it.

This would be my expectation, but no one has ever actually said it outloud as a fact.

i spoke to someone placed highly in the offices at 35th & Shields. long ago Jon Rauch put him up there on a high shelf and ever since no one has ever been able to reach high enough to bring him back down.

Calls to mind the dispute KW had with Rauch after he left a poor start early...or Stone?

He can own 99.9% but can’t get control unless Reinsdorf gives it to him. JR has been the king since 1981. I’m sure he has run things by his partners, but ultimately all decisions have been his.

Correct. That is the way his contract is written, he has the day to day authority to run the franchise as he sees fit without interference.

I do not doubt that control is already worked out.  No way Jerry is in charge once the smoke clears.  JR needs to work out his capital gains issue...not hang on to do nothing.

It was Kenny who immediately cut Rauch after finding out about it.

If by “cut” you mean sent to the minors after the game, yes, that’s what happened.  He wasn’t “cut” as in DFA.

After he left the clubhouse before the end of a 5-1 loss to Anaheim on May 29, 2004, he was called up again in June.  He was traded a month later on July 18, 2004 with Gary Majewski to the Expos for Crazy Carl Everett.

Jon Rauch appreciates getting a second chance with the White Sox.

The right-hander was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday. In his previous stint with Chicago, Rauch drew criticism from general manager Kenny Williams and several teammates after he left the clubhouse before the end of a 5-1 loss to Anaheim on May 29.

I was talking to some dude perched way up in the suites at 31st & Wentworth. Ages ago, Ozzie Guillen plopped him up there on the highest ledge, and no one’s ever managed to stretch far enough to pull him back down.

Ishbia is not a wait around and wait kind of guy. He has always wanted to own a baseball team. He had every intent on purchasing the Twins but JR approached him with a deal to purchase the Sox and he changed course and took it. He lives and works in Chicago. I predict he will be the new White Sox owner much sooner than later.

For what it's worth, if both Ishbia brothers buy in (which I think is how I think the operate the Suns — Matt is in charge, Justin invests), the Sox would have the second wealthiest ownership in the league.

I think Justin alone makes us the 2nd wealthiest, but won’t hurt to have both.

Not over Cohen...

Cohen is also very unique because most of that is straight cash. Horrible human being though.

Justin is similar in that it's a lot of cash on hand as opposed to business value.
