If this was a massive trade during the Winter Meetings, this thread would be 10+ already.  We are finally free of the Reinsdorf’s.   I can’t even believe this s%*# is even real.  I was worried that old f*** would live to 110 and I wouldn’t be able to enjoy White Sox baseball until my 60’s.  Instead, we will soon enough have one of the richest owners in the sport who will likely do what’s needed to bring out the best of this franchise.  It’s simply a dream come fucking true.

I still contend that with the current tax laws, the Sox will not be sold until after Jerry passes on. But we do seem to have the next owner, whenever that will be.

Oh yeah that’s different though. If it’s winter meetings, if anyone is like me, I’m constantly refreshing until I fall asleep. I wasn’t really on the site when this news came out.

“The move to free Suns games on TV tells me a lot about his long term goals of moving the Suns into the more large-market category. Emphasis on long term. It would have been easy to just sit and rake in the profits, a lot of owners do that. Worst ones go full Moneyball. He wants to expand the business even if it means taking a hit in the short term.”

By and large, a lot more positive than negative comments here.

The ugly Bradley Beal situation proves that Matt Ishbia's reckless spending ruined the Suns

As soon as Ishbia came on board in Phoenix, he made a commitment to spending. A few months later, they traded for Kevin Durant, and the following summer, they made a move for Beal.

At first glance, this was great. Ishbia was the type of guy who was willing to spend to make the team better. That’s the type of owner that every organization wants, right?

Wrong.

Ishbia was so eager to flash his cash in hopes of improvement that he (and James Jones) ignored every other important aspect of building a basketball team. And now, they are paying the price for it.

Matt Ishbia has totally mismanaged the team. The Bradley Beal ...

Jerry doesn't have a majority stake as much as he has majority share. In a perfect world, he doesn't have to sell, Ishbia buys out majority of minority stake to become majority owner, Jerry sells the rest post death.

We just saw this exact same construct with the Orioles purchase.  Rubenstein bought a minority stake but received control of the team with an agreement to buy the Angelos’ shares upon his death.  I’m assuming it’s going to be something very similar as Ishbia won’t want to wait for Jerry to die to take control when he could have just bought the Twins immediately.

It’s the fucking NBA.  You want an owner that will spend and bet big on stars, which is the opposite of what the Reinsdorf’s do.  I can’t believe people are actually complaining about this.

I find it hard to believe that Ishbia will just wait for Jerry to die, unless as someone says there's known health issues. Why risk sitting here as a minority owner for another 15 years with no say in operations, spending and building the franchise value.

The last few years there has been more than a few holes in the previously airtight theory that nothing happens until he is pushing up daisies

Ishbia will be the second richest owner in the entire MLB and is a Chicago resident.  We have hit the motherfucking jackpot and somehow this thread is only at three pages.  I’m literally celebrating this news all weekend.  This is the day we have been waiting for for decades and it’s finally fucking here.  Honestly, I can’t think of a better fucking owner on paper than Ishbia.  I don’t know how everyone isn’t doing cartwheels right now.  This is absolutely incredible.

Sounds like it’ll be a bit slower but it’s indeed good news. I think many people haven’t read the articles because of cancelled Athletic subscriptions.

No to Guerrero because no guarantee he keeps up his production as he ages...then all of his value has to come from his offense.

$340-400 million for that future uncertainty?

No way.

Dylan Cease haha?

Bo Bichette, Kyle Schwarber, Luis Arraez, Marcell Ozuna, JP Realmuto and Eugenio Suárez are some of the other notable position players in this class.
