2025-26 FA Class: How would you spend Ishbia's millions?

We're eventually going to need to land a big FA to anchor the lineup IMO but I'm not entirely sold on Vlad or Tucker and next year is probably too early anyway.

If we're actually willing to spend again, probably target a couple second tier position players and maybe Gallen or Valdez to anchor an otherwise young rotation.

Melody Hobson might be more of a passive investor, just looking for ROI/RoR.

We MIGHT find out something more on Friday.

There's no way in hell I would want either Reinsdorf or Getz around my $1.8 billion dollar investment.   They gone.

News coming out that Vladimir Guerrero had an ask for $600 freaking million from Toronto...that's crazy for a bat-first player at a corner who just might be in the greatest physical shape 8-10 years down the line.

Also, Lawrence Butler signed a $65.5 million, 7 year extension with the A's.  That's almost $130 million just between Rooker ($60 million) and Butler this offseason, not to mention the Luis Severino deal for $67 million.

Poor Oakland fans. If only their team was forced to spend money earlier.

Good for Butler, though. Dude can ball.

Start with the front office. Get some solid baseball people running this team. I have nothing against Getz but he would have to go.

Said good-bye to Schriffen and Stone.  Enough of both of them.

Bring on AJ in some capacity.

No thanks. Let someone else make that mistake.

You don't have to imagine. Check the purchase price and the current valuation. They bought the team for $19 million. Now it's close to $2 billion.

On Jan 29, 1981 the day that the Sox sale closed, the Dow closed the day at 948.89.  It closed yesterday at 42579.  That means the Dow has gone by up about 44.9X.  The same math for the Sox returns 105.3X. (19m vs 2b)

Yep...the golden age for owners...not so much for fans.

So if my math is correct if someone in 1979 invested $10,000 JR has turned that investment into $1 million dollars today. Imagine not buying that '79 Camaro for cash and instead having JR use it to buy a baseball team.

That is pretty much the idea behind investing.  For funzies, gold closed at 493.75 that day.  Today it is 2911.  That is 5.9X

I love asking my gold obsessed friends who believe the end is near. When the currency collapses how they will buy groceries with gold? Will Jewel have a scale to weigh it?
