caulfield12
Steve Dunning (1970), Mike Morgan (A's pitcher), Pete Incaviglia (Univ Texas), Dave Winfield, Dave Roberts (Padres), Brian Milner (Blue Jays), Jim Abbott (Michigan), Xavier Nady (Padres), those are the notables players to go directly from draft/NCAA or high school baseball directly to the major leagues without ANY MiLB seasoning. Basically, 23 players have done it since 1965...with Winfield clearly the most successful, a HoFer out of Minnesota.

Expand Olerud broke into MLB with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1989, without ever playing in the minors. Prior to the 1990 season, he was named the #3 prospect in MLB by Baseball America. Yep, add him to a SHORT SHORT list. #3 prospect, vs. Braden Montgomery in the 40's through 60's, with one rating service not even having him in the Top 100 since he didn't play last year in short-season ball due to injury. Incaviglia and Abbott were both Top 10 rated/legendary college players/pitchers.

zisk
I honestly think AB is cursed with the Sox. If traded, he'll revert to normal. The worst part is that he's a good guy in a "Twilight Zone" episode.

greg775
Holy smokes. Just logging on and saw this. I was starting to actually like Beni and consider him moderately valuable. Like Fathom said recently this team is not going to score runs. I'd say our offense will be historically bad. How the hell did Beni hurt his hand? I will like this if Colas plays. I might even consider buying mlb.com to see him bat a lot. I always liked Colas and that big fat outfielder the Sox would never give a chance to, Yermin.
