Really good stuff.  Lots of quality prospects not making the top 30 reflects we haven’t seen KW was in charge of the farm system.

My guess of the top 30 prospects in no particular order:

  • IF (9):  C. Montgomery, Meidroth, Ramos, Bonemer, Gonzalez, Bergolla, Perez, Albertus, Antonacci
  • OF (5):  B. Montgomery, Wolkow, Zavala, McLain, Saucke
  • CA (2):  Teel, Quero
  • RHP (9):  Taylor, Iriarte, Adams, Burke, Gonzalez, Batista, Carela, Nastrini, Smith
  • LHP (5):  Schultz, Smith, Bush, Larson, Eder

IMO, Eder should not be in the top 30 over Pallette or Adler.  I’d also have Ronny Hernandez at the very end of the list, although not sure who I would remove to make room for him.  A 121 wRC+ for a 19 year old catcher is super impressive despite shortcomings to his game at the moment.

Excellent write up. The names on the list speak to the excellent depth the White Sox now possess on the pitching side. There's enough legitimate prospects on that list and some will definitely get big league opportunities.

I was really impressed with Schweitzer and the overall quality of his stuff. At a minimum I think he'll find success as a reliever. It might be just a bad first impression but the quality of his stuff took a major dive out of the stretch. If you put him in a bullpen told him to forget about the runner and just focus on throwing a max effort fastball (while maintaining control) I feel like he could have some nice upside as a late inning reliever.

Always a fun read. I don't understand a couple of picks (Bush, Eder), but it will be fun to watch these guys in the minors this year. Thanks.

Bush is absolutely a top 20 prospect in this system. He's just hurt now. This was put together prior to the injury.

Bonemer is really gonna make or break last year's draft. Not seeing a lot of upside in the other position talent we drafted and our drafted college OF bats could fall off these lists really quickly. In '03 we at least stocked up on some quality stuff on the pitching side.

Smith is a hell of a prospect but we also passed on some really solid positional picks so I feel like you almost need him to be a front end starter or the draft is a bust.

Thanks. I really hope Perez and Albertus become something. I didn't love the main piece at the time of the trade but hopefully someone could salvage it (maybe Vargas).

"Bergolla has a compact left-handed stroke and focuses on putting the ball in play, ranking seventh in the Minors in swinging strike percentage (4 percent) and eighth in strikeout rate (11 percent) last year. He generates extremely low exit velocities and a lot of opposite-field grounders, and he'll need to get a lot stronger and change his swing and approach to ever produce much power. He homered just once in 168 games and slugged .354 in his first three pro seasons.

Growing up around the game, Bergolla developed a high baseball IQ that adds to his value as a runner and defender. He has plus speed and swiped 27 bases in 33 attempts last year after going 4-for-8 in his first two pro seasons. After playing primarily at second base in the Phillies system, he spent most of his time at shortstop with the White Sox. He has range to both sides and exhibits average to solid arm strength."
