Expand I would think Eisert, Gilbert, White and Schuster would all be on the chopping block before Leasure. They can create a spot by putting Carela on the MLB 60 day. Leasure is one of the more interesting pen pieces they have IMO. Edited March 26 by ChiSox59

Wouldn't be shocked at all to see him pick up some closing opportunities. Leasure was usually around 95-96 but maybe he can find another tick or two without sacrificing command. "The odd man out, for now, appears to be Bryan Ramos. Unfortunately, while he did have a fairly strong Spring, much like Colson Montgomery, he didn’t have a strong enough 2024 season in Charlotte that would qualify as “forcing the issue.” His .755 OPS sounds good on the surface, but in context, that translates to a 98 wRC+ in a hitter’s environment. So, there’s still work to be done. Plus, Ramos spent part of 2024 injured, so working through some consistent, healthy at-bats in Charlotte wouldn’t be a bad idea while the White Sox do some further evaluation at the major league level. If the team decides to move on from Lenyn Sosa, Ramos could make the Opening Day roster – but would likely have to do so as a second baseman." He's also still presumably dealing with that elbow issue limiting his ability to play the field. So he would DH with Sosa at second, Vargas third with Amaya/Baldwin at SS/utility. Then Ramos goes down for Rojas...not sure it's worth burning an option there for 3-5 days...one week tops. Expand Ramos started slow and improved. He was injured and as time passed he became more productive. He should play all the time as DH or go to AAA and play there every day.

caulfield12
Several infielders who are on the bubble, including Brooks Baldwin, Nick Maton and Tristan Gray, were expected to be on the plane without knowing if they’ll be on the team. Outfielder Travis Jankowski is in the same situation as general manager Chris Getz and staff wait until the last minute while considering waiver claims, potential trades and players released from other camps. “It puts a stress on everybody, and this is part of it, and you work through it,” first-year manager Will Venable said. In Amaya, the Sox have “a great defender,” Venable said. “And we love the stability that he brings to the defensive position. And he’s done a really nice job offensively, really kind of shortening down his stroke. He admittedly was trying to do a little too much early in camp, but I think he got back to kind of who he really is.” SunTimes.com/sports

So if you're assuming they need to open 3 spots, I would predict: Thorpe to 60-day, Eisert DFA'd (the only lefty added they didn't trade something to get like Booser and Gilbert), and Owen White DFA'd.

Expand Jankowski (Venable's TX connection) and Baldwin feel the likeliest to to stick...but it really doesn't matter if Brooks is going to just sit and rot on the bench. He'd be better off in AAA getting regular at-bats...except for his own personal finances and pension eligibility. But Montgomery and Meidroth are set in Charlotte...leaving 3B DH or OF. Elko at first. Just dump Colas Fletcher or DeLoach. Cal Mitchell as well. Edited March 26 by caulfield12
