SoxAce
This SHOULD be a guy Getz and company should put a waiver claim on. You literally have nothing to lose. 24 year old former top 10-15 prospect in the Giants and Cubs organization. Thoughts?
WhiteSox2023
Yes, although a few frequent posters ardently disagreed with me because he simply isn’t good enough for the Sox roster and we already have Tauchman (34) and Slater (32) that do squat for this team. This kid is a full decade younger than our primary starting RF. 🤣 Would be hilarious if it actually happens now. Your point stands — even if Canario sucks, “you literally have nothing to lose.” Edited March 26 by WhiteSox2023
caulfield12
Can't claim him...then we'd have to get rid of, slowly GASPS....Jankowski Taylor Tauchman Slater.

Expand It would have to be someone on the 40-man roster so Jankowski wouldn’t apply as he’s just a NRI. I also doubt Getz would want to cut any of Taylor, Tauchman, and Slater because he spend around $6 million combined on them — chump change for real teams but too much to cut for the Sox. But one of Colas or Fletcher would make sense, and I think we know which of the two the Sox don’t seem to care much for anymore. At least Fletcher can play some defense in all three outfield spots if needed. Edited March 26 by WhiteSox2023

The Mighty Mite
I can see maybe getting excited about Canario.
Chicago White Sox
I’m not a big believer that Canario will work out given his contact issues, but there’s no reason not to pick him up and use him as a platoon OF. Against LHP: Slater, DH Robert, CF Benintendi, LF Vaughn, 1B Vargas, 3B Sosa, 2B Canario, RF Lee, CA Amaya, SS Taylor would be the odd man out here, but so be it, I was never a big fan of his addition. Obviously things could change when Tauchman & Rojas come back and whenever Teel, Quero, Meidroth, Montgomery, Ramos, etc. force the need for a roster spot, but we should have a window here to get a glimpse of what Canario is capable of without making other permanent roster decisions. Capn12
I'd be more interested in watching Canario at 24, than the veteran stiffs currently on the roster. We ain't winning anything this year, the marginal vets, one of them, can go elsewhere. 1
Ozzie for Manager
And if he has a good first half of the year you can flip him for a prospect. Lol. That's the only hope for most of our signings.and is usually a pipedream
Bob Sacamano
With the injuries that have popped up, you can definitely add him and platoon him or just give him DH at bats. Who knows, by the time Tauchman is ready, there could possibly be another injury to the OF.
almagest
He'd be worth a shot as a platoon guy, and especially if they can stash him in AAA. His strikeout issues are gonna keep him from ever being more than a guy who runs into one every now and then, though.

southsider2k5
62 days of service time and 24 years old catches my attention. On a team full of flawed players, might as well get someone with any upside.

Once trades start flowing he could start, assuming he hadn't been terrible.

WhiteSox2023
I have no doubt Hahn would’ve nabbed Canario the first time he was DFA. Let’s see if Getz wises up this time. It’s not like the Sox have a glut of OF prospects, but we sure have a lot of crusty veterans… Edited March 26 by WhiteSox2023
