I have no idea who his source is, or if he has sources. Nobody's talked about Colas being traded, or anybody else in baseball having any interest in Colas, so I thought it interesting to share. 

I gather he has, or thinks he has a source on the Sox who has gossiped info about inquiries to him.

The Rangers released outfielder Cody Thomas from his minor league contract. Texas also officially selected Kevin Pillar onto the 40-man roster after announcing yesterday that he’d make the team. They had an opening after outrighting Dane Dunning earlier in the week.

yeah, I hate that too. you make a good point, the dfa is likely not related to his public behavior. I think that minority owner (the failson who inherited the role, whatever his name) keeps getting his bud Clev a job.

but also, hold it against him. check this out, your co-worker's wife says he's been abusing her, spitting on her kids, etc -- is your first instinct to think "oh man, she's single now, let me make my move"?. it's just bizarre. I have to assume such a weird mentality impacts one's ability to take baseball playing seriously. 

totally think Clev should not be on this team. I hate it even if he could still play. I miss South Side Hit Man.

Colas? I doubt he gets released.  He'll either get claimed (likely), or he clear waivers and Sox send him back to AAA as non-roster depth (ideal).

Anyone think Getz was hoping some team claimed him?  I can’t see him ever getting another shot unless the Sox suffer multiple OF injuries.

Why would Getz hope this?  He could just exit him from the org altogether…he’s fine as a AAA depth piece that doesn’t require a roster spot.  Mike Jones falls into the same category IMO, but for now he’s got a 40 man spot.
