Bill Mercer R.I.P...

With yesterday's tribute to Bill Melton before the broadcast it reminded me that I saw where former Sox broadcaster Bill Mercer passed away a few days ago at the age of 98.

He was a broadcasting staple in Texas for decades including doing the Cowboys and Rangers when they first moved from Washington D.C. but he worked with Harry Caray on Sox broadcasts in the early 1970's.

He had a good sense of humor. Had the chance to do a long interview with him in 2010.

Bill didn't just do sports, he was on the scene for the JFK assassination in 1963 and was the reporter who told Oswald he was being officially charged with his murder.
