WSFAN35
Dadgum right he did! Justice prevailed in both AL AND NL. I am impressed. Justice prevailed in the AL??? Ludacris... the fact that A-Rod won the AL MVP is the biggest load of crap since the huge dump I took before I heard the news... A player on a last place team has no rite to an MVP award. Nuff said. Soxbadger
The only thing I saw that was odd was: A St. Louis reporter voted Sheffield first and an Atlanta reporter voted Pujols first. SB

southsider2k5
That is pretty amusing. I believe (and I am not positive about this) that writes have to vote for someone other than their home town player.
Queen Prawn
If it ever comes out that he uses THB (given his recent subpoena - yes, I know it could be just that he knew the person(s) involved), do you think it will tarnish his MVPs and career numbers? Just curious, nothing more than that.
GASHWOUND
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1664815 Both Bonds and Pujols had outstanding years...I don't think you could argue if either were chosen..but Bonds is the most dangerous player in baseball and makes his teammates a whole lot better..no denying that -mikey
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
I believe (and I am not positive about this) that writes have to vote for someone other than their home town player. I don't think so. There have been unanimous MVPs in the past, meaning all first place votes went to the same guy.

Soxfest
I think Pujols got shafted, once Bonds dad died he was guarenteed the MVP

I was rolling on the floor, laughing my ass off after I read this. And I agree with the rest of that post. A player on the last place team doesnt deserve to be an MVP but if you really think about it, the Rangers would have gon 10-152 without Pay-Rod. I'm gonna laugh my ass off when they have the deer in the headlights look after they are busted.

BrandoFan
Oh my f***ing god! I was rolling on the floor, laughing my ass off after I read this Under the protection of US Constitution, among other liberties you're afforded the right do roll anywhere and/or laugh at anything. It doesn't make you less of a moron. With all due respect. A player on the last place team doesnt deserve to be an MVP but if you really think about it, the Rangers would have gon 10-152 without Pay-Rod. Exactly. A-Rod's was more valuable to his team than anybody else to his, so he won it. Team's record should be and sometimes is immaterial. You wanna give Posada Yankee team MVP? Fine. Wanna give Stewart Twin MVP? Of course. Gurdzilanek Cub MVP? Ok........LEAGUE MVP? Should go to the BEST player because his intristic value is the HIGHEST. The league in which Andre Dawson's 1987 "value" is considered inferior to Ozzie Smith's is not the league I want to follow.

Pastime
I can't accuse anyone of anything without undisputable proof, but I just watched a Giants game from about 5 years ago on ESPN Classic that I taped. (It ran over from what I was taping previously.) Bonds was the skinny beanpole he always was. He was stealing bases, and not very bulked up. All of a sudden he's this behemoth. Mark McGwire had arms that were soft and unmuscular in 1996. Two years later, his arms are larger than my thighs and he's a monster. Shammy Sosa started with the White Sox at 178 lbs - as late as 1996, he was 195 lbs. All of a sudden, he's 230 lbs in 1998 and pounding the ball. And we all know the lazy s*** wouldn't hit the weights if you stuck a gun to his head. Jason Giambi - quick bat, and had a lot of homeruns as a member of the A's. However, I have a playoff game from 3 years ago on tape, and he was undeveloped in his arms. They were just "normal guy" arms. All of a sudden, he's got arms that most linebackers would salivate over. I'm glad they're doing something about this. I hate the fact that steroids are polluting my favorite game. Simply put, if you can't perform in the most beautiful sport in history without artificial enhancement - then get the f*** out! The game has been tarnished enough with the money issue, we don't need it tarnished with "dope" as well.

Maris might still be the single season home run champ if it weren't for steroids. That's to say nothing of Sosa and Bonds assaults on the career home run list. The game has been tarnished enough with the money issue, we don't need it tarnished with "dope" as well. You're absolutely right. In time this is going to come out and the Lords of Baseball are not going to be happy. I think it may turn out to be the worst thing in baseball, and all of sports for that matter since 1919. Everybody who believes todays athletes are so damn much better than ever should think about this. What would players in all sports who starred in the past have done on the juice? Mickey Mantle once hit a home run in old Griffith park (DC) measured at 565 feet. We all know the only kind of "juice" he was on. Back when I was young I knew a guy who trained real hard and actually benched 550 pounds at a body weight of about 275. No steroids whatsover involved. It took intensive daily workouts over a long period of time. Today guys have the magic potion.
