Heres the Story

In 35 games with the Rangers, Dransfeldt hit .159 with one home run and seven RBIs. The fourth-round pick from the University of Michigan in the 1996 First-Year Player Draft has 949 games under his minor league belt, not to mention 832 hits in 3,433 at-bats during stops at Hudson Valley, Charlotte, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Louisville and Pawtucket.

The White Sox also signed Mike Bell, the son of managerial candidate Buddy Bell, and re-signed catcher Carlos Maldonado as six-year minor league free agents. Bob Fontaine, the team’s director of player development, mentioned that Bell can play five positions with a little bit of pop in his bat, while they like Dransfeldt’s defense and potential in the middle of the infield.

Ya, was a really high pick and supposedly has some tools. In the article he mentions how excited he is to play for Guillen and he wil be at AAA at the very lowest next year. The contract he signed assured him of that and he could be on the Sox if he does good in spring training as he was given an invite.

I don't have a problem with this, might as well take a flyer on the guy.

It's a good Move. Insurance probably. I remember him being highly touted but never had panned out... He was supposed to be the next Rangers SS before you know who got there ;)

Dransfeldt cannot field with Dellaero, and cannot hit much better. But he will be better than Nunez was at SS for Charlotte, if he makes roster in Chicago, we are hurting.

Saw Mike Bell in Tucson last spring training, he was ok, but he will not make the team either. All AAA roster fill
