DBAHO
I was readin this article from da Tribune and some of these trade deals r worth lookin at. No. 1: Send Billy Koch to the Mets for a mid-level prospect, preferably an arm or a middle infielder, and offer to pay half of Koch's $6.37 million salary for 2004. - This deal is still on in my opinion though we asked for David Weathers and their owner refused. No. 2: Send Paul Konerko and Jose Valentin to Los Angeles for Odalis Perez. Dan Evans is starved for offense, but he may not take this deal on the premise that he is adding additional salary to an already mammoth payroll. If this is the case, the Sox could pick up half of Konerko's $8 million salary if the Dodgers are willing to throw in another prospect. An arm or a middle infielder would do. - Now if this deal can be done, do it in a second. But there's no way LA takes back all those salaries in my opinion. No. 3: So now that the Sox have shelled out over $7 million in bribes, what do they do? They trade Magglio Ordonez to Boston. Yes, this one stinks of Sam Smith. If Boston general manager Theo Epstein can convince the Rangers to take Manny Ramirez for A-Rod, the Sox can offer Ordonez for Nomar Garciaparra. By installing Garciaparra at short, the Sox can mask the fact that there are no middle infield prospects in the organization and can address that in the next few years. Garciaparra, 30, could be a fixture in the South Side infield for the next five years. - Now I really like this possibility IF we can't resign Maggs and we CAN resign Nomar on a long term deal. If A-Rod goes to Boston for Ramirez, this could actually happen. One to definitely keep an eye on. No. 4: So if the sun and moon aligns and the Sox can pull off the aforementioned trades, their attention should then turn to free agency. As far as their own free agents, Carl Everett should be offered a four million per year deal for two years. Tony Graffanino should be re-signed so he could platoon at second with Aaron Miles. The infield takes shape from left to right: Joe Crede, Garciaparra, the Graffanino/Miles platoon, Frank Thomas and Miguel Olivo behind the dish. Thomas is not a horrible fielder and he produced his best at the plate when he played the field. Everett would be the designated hitter. - I think the chances of Everett resigning have increased since TB likely can't now afford him since they traded for Tino Martinez, and r afta Cruz Jr. and hav otha needs to fill. JoshPR
I already posted that. That was wrote by some idiot who doesn't have a clue. The only thing you put your opinion in it. And you omitted 5 and 6. 6 is the most hilarious one... Check out the thread... This made me LAUGH... I hope this guy isn't one of you (That's what i named the thread)
BurlyMan56
I love the Maggs/Nomar possibility...Would Maggs go to Left if Manny is shipped out? Or would Nixon move to left and Maggs in right over there...I believe Nomar is making about 2 mil less next year also...It would be tough to get him to resign here though...Since there arent many great shortstops there... JoshPR
To be honest I think Number 2 is the most possible. Maggs for Nomah!!! I would do it, If Nomah would sign an Extention. The thing is were screwed cause JR got his money up his ass. And the Mets insistance on Koch is fishy to me.. Maybe they know something the sox don't. They can keep Roger Cedeño too
SuperSteve
Wouldn't the Red Sox want to make sure they can sign Magglio long term? If they didn't trade Manny, what a log jam of Manny, Magglio, and Nixon for two corner OF positions. Maybe deal Damon and move Mags to CF, stranger things have happen. Soxfest
Maggs for Nomar HELL YES
YASNY
The last I heard, Nomar wanted to come in at just below Jeter type money. The Sox can't (won't) be able to get him to agree to an extension.

YASNY
I think the Cardinals are paying most of Tino's salary That is affirmative. Tino is owed $7.5M for 2004 and at least a $1M option buyout for the 2005 season. St. Louis is paying $7M of the $8.5M he is gauranteed. maggsmaggs
That wasn't an article form the tribune, that was just some Sox fans thoughts on Chicago Sports.com, it was just his ideas of what the Sox should do.
