Al Lopez Ghost (old)
He said that Terry Francona is "pretty much set in stone" as the next Bosox manager. Said that Schilling loves Francona. He also said that Boston is hoping that Texas will say yes to Manny for A-Rod, which would lead to Nomar going to the Dodgers for pitching. If Nomar went to the Dodgers, that would end the CLee and Jose idea.

Chisoxfn
During the season there was a big Gagne for Garciappara rumor going on down in LA. The Dodgers would be nuts to do it though, despite that a lot of the fans seemed to want to do the deal.

They need offense and have guys like Mota in the pen. Besides it is much easier to replace a closer, than a Nomar, IMO, even as good as Gagne is. Plus Gagne is looking at a huge pay raise soon. Gagne wants a huge payraise, but Nomar hasn't been near as good this past season as he was in years past. He can get himself out at the plate and had a horrible post-season. I still like the guy a whole lot, but Gagne is absolutely awesome. I don't deal someone like him. Rarely do I have a high value in closers, but that guy is a freaking stud and a horse in the pen. But my guess is, thats what the deal will center around. The Dodgers would be better off getting Jose Valentin and trying to acquire Richie Sexson, imo. It just would be twice as hard to get two deals done.

It just would be twice as hard to get two deals done. Well I seriously think Izturis would get it done from the Sox perspective...dont' know if the Dodgers do it. And The Brewers don't seem to have a high asking price for Sexson, its more take his salary off their hands. If they offered Mota and a solid to good prospect, I think they could get the deal done. I think they'd be a lot better with Gagne still in the pen and Sexson and Jose then with Mota in the pen and Garciapara. Either way the Dodgers still want to move Odalis Perez because he's upset with the organization.

I want NY to choke on their f***ing payroll again this year not even make the playoffs.
CubKilla
If Epstein can get Schilling, A-Rod, and Gagne for essentially, Nomar and woManny, then young Theo is easily the frontrunner for '04's GM of the Year. Not to mention what Evans would be trying to pull off by acquiring Nomar and Sexson. I wish we were one of the teams rumored to be making moves like this. Looking like we're gonna need plenty of Miller products in '04 unless the White Sox pull off a 2000-type season out of their butts again. southsider2k5
I actually had hope in '02 and '03 Amen to that. As of right now, I don't see anyway that we win the Central, without some kind of miracle.

Chisoxfn
Amen to that. As of right now, I don't see anyway that we win the Central, without some kind of miracle. The central is still weak and if the Sox sign Colon they definately have the ability to make it in the central, if not farther. Pitching can carry a team. The question is whether this team will play like a team. THe problem is, the more I think about it, the more scared I get that Ozzie Guillen is our manager. Getting Ozzie is hit or miss. I get the feeling it will be a miss. Also, I HIGHLY doubt we get Colon back. With Boston getting Schilling, assuming he waives his no-trade clause, the Yankees then enter the Colon race as well. With the Angels and Yankees in it....as well as the Orioles who have been mentioned too....I see no way Bart comes back. And that's fine by me. I don't think his arm makes it three years with that jelly on his belly.
SuperSteve
Hey Jas, Sexson is going to be part of the Schilling deal. Also, when does the new Dodger ownership (IIRC they are getting a new owner) take over?

Also, when does the new Dodger ownership (IIRC they are getting a new owner) take over? When did you hear that? The last I heard was that the Brewers were no longer a part of this trade, and it was a two team deal. I heard that last night.
Chisoxfn
Ya, it is a 2 team deal. THe Dbacks hope to get a deal done for Sexson, but nothing is immenent. The Dodgers and Dbacks seem to be the two suitors for his services.

DBAHO
Hey Jas, Sexson is going to be part of the Schilling deal. Also, when does the new Dodger ownership (IIRC they are getting a new owner) take over? Schilling's goin to Boston for Lyon, Fossum and 2 prospects. Then if the D-Backs want Sexson they mite hav to trade sum of their prospects to da Brewers. Mite I say now with Lee traded to da Cubs, if the D-Backs can't work out a deal for Sexson, could they be interested in Konerko?
