Heads22
We lost to our archrival Independence 47-32. I didn't score, but I didn't take any shots either. Score by Quarter Team 1 2 3 4 Final Independence 18 19 6 4 47 Oelwein 0 8 6 18 32 That first half really really hurt us. The big change was instead of the 1-3-1 we played in the first half, we played a 2-3 and really shut them down in the second half. We also took 7 charges. Heads22
Ah ouch....the season's long though...what position do you play? I'm 5' 7" so I play guard. I really need to work on my passing and offense, but my defense was better than I thought it'd be. We get these guys again Jan. 15 in JV play. We know we can beat them. I'll see if I can't get a pic of me in my uni up.
SuperSteve
How'd ya do? Ya get in? Don't worry 'bout it, I won't see a second of mat time this season for MSU in an official match anyways.

I played probably what amounted to 8-12 minutes in a 32 minute game. I'm the seventh guy on a seven man team. I committed some stupid turnovers but thats how the first half went. I probably had like 4 in the first half but none in the second.
greasywheels121
Bench. Niiiiice.....Hey, but you'll get your PT this year. You made the team, you're obviously decent.
Heads22
Niiiiice.....Hey, but you'll get your PT this year. You made the team, you're obviously decent. There's only like 15 people out for Varsity/JV basketball. Here in NE Iowa, you don't try out for a sport. If you're there for pracice, you're on the team. Exactly....Confidence is a big thing...It definitely doesn't help if you're expecting to miss the shot etc..

BTW just a footnote, the fight song of "Hickory HS" is the reallife fight song for Manchester HS in North Manchester IN, home of the Manchester Squires, where yours truely spent 3 years broadcast HS basketball including IN HS state finals in 1995. southsider2k5
No, we're the Huskies. Get it right. Definately. Gene Hackman would never let you clowns give up an 18-0 run in the first quarter.

Heads22
Definately. Gene Hackman would never let you clowns give up an 18-0 run in the first quarter. Our coach really kicks ass though. He handles players great. He set out goal to win the second half...we did 24-10. He also let us change our defense from a 1-3-1 to a 2-3 in the second half. southsider2k5
The name Bryce Drew sounds super firmiliar. It should. That was the guy that hit the huge 3pointer to push Valpo U to the upset win in the NCAA tourney 4 years ago, to one of the best finishes in the history of the NCAA tourney. He played for your very own Chicago Bulls. His dad Homer Drew is the long time coach of Valpo U, and his brother went down to take over as his brother Scott Drew went down to rebuild the Baylor U program after the tragic happenings there
