Harry Chappas
Do the White Sox have to offer salary arbitration to their free agents Monday in order to recieve compensation via draft picks? It will be interesting to see how Everett, Alomar and Colon are handled in these cases as they all will seek payroll increases. I think we will lose Everett and Alomar with no compensation and am very interested to see what happens with Colon. If they offer no arbitration we recieve nothing and he can not play with us until May. Is this correct?
SuperSteve
I think Everett will be back, especially if we can move Kong.

RibbieRubarb
I also think Carl will be back. He is not the type to go to Tampa for the $$$, he is a player who wants to win.

He isn't coming back here then. Plus just from the sounds of it, he pissed someone off, because right away they said he wasn't coming back. Whether Everett is back or not, it will not be because we offered him arbitration. I just don't see him coming back unless the bottom completely falls out for his demand. The organization loves him. Kenny is playing the waiting game again this year with the players. It worked last year, landing us Colon. I didn't hear anything either, but they made it clear right away that they were not going to bring Carl back. It was just weird the way it happened. 103 mph screwball
I don't think Carl pissed anyone off either. It would not surprise me to see him back but I don't expect him back either. I really like KW's apparent strategy to deal with the free agents. He has offered Colon, Alomar, Graffy? and Gordan reasonable deals and when they turn it down, he says thank you, we'd love to have you but we have to move on. If the player wants to be on the Sox, he will be less likely to turn down the next offer from the Sox. If he doesn't want to play for the Sox, bye. Chasing guys around throwing cash at them screaming please! please! is not a good bargaining position. Do not low-ball our players because that causes bad blood. Offer them fair deals and tell them if they can do better on the open market, good luck, thank you & we will really miss you. We will get some of these guys back at fair deals or we will spend the money on other guys at bargain prices, but hopefully we won't over pay too many. I think the whole league is trying to become more responsible with a budget. (not collusion, common sense). A few years ago this may have backfired badly but this year, reasonable fair deals may actually work. KW knows what he is doing. I hope 103 mph screwball
greasywheels121
I wouldn't mind having Everett back; however, I would like to see us bolster our pitching staff and pen first. I really like what I'm hearing there.

I fully agree with you. The only way they offer it to Everett is if he signs with the Devil Rays by then or is close to a deal with them and the Sox feel comfortable enough to know he won't be accepting arbitration. I think they will offer Sully arbitration.
