Why all the hooplah with Anaheim and Bart

When you look at Anaheim's roster for the 2004 season, they really don't have many Latin ballplayers: R. Ortiz, Molina, Rodriguez and Escobar, and that' about it. Talk about feeling uncomfortable, he wouldn't like having so few Latins. While the Sox have eight Latin born players plus a primarily Latin Coaching staff. It look like Bartolo should be wearing the balck and white if he wants to "comfortable"

People have been spouting out numbers without actually talking about the reality of the numbers.

The Angels rumored offer of 4 years 48 million is also known to be almost entirely deferred money.

While the Sox 3 for 30+ million is all guarenteed.

Me thinks Bart goes with guarenteed money, latin coaching staff, and the beeter chance to make the playoffs.

In other words...us.

It wouldn't hurt to add 2 mill per year incentives.  How about 250K for playoffs, 250 more for advancing. 500 for winning Series if he pitches in the playoffs.  How about 100 grand per win over 12.

Then a 22 win world champion Colon gets 12 mil and worth every penny right?

Not a bad idea at all, but I wonder what JR's policy is about incentives?

I don't usually hear much about incentive clauses in Sox players' contracts outside of the usual MVP/AllStar Team/etc.

I do recall Lofton having an attendance clause in his Sox contract    :bang

Well, if Colon comes back, and Konerko does in fact go to L.A. in exchange for Perez, I think it's obvious that KW's master plan is to construct a team made up entirely of Latin Players. Obviously, this was the impetus behind the Miles/Uribe deal. That deal allowed us to send Valentin along with Konerko, while keeping our Latin prescence at SS. If the Sox don't sign Robbie, then it's guaranteed that Fernando Vina will be wearing the black and white next season. Third Base, First Base, and Center Field remain open, look for KW to make a big push to acquire Juan Encarnacion, Vinny Castilla, and Rafael Palmeiro. Also, as it has been noted already, Rowand has been tearing up the Puerto Rico league, and his presence there has little to do with baseball, and everything to do with assimilating the culture, language, and lifestyle of Puerto Ricans. After then changing his name then to Rowandez, he would serve as the backup, should obtaining Encarnacion become impossible, As for the pitching staff, the rotation would be almost set with Colon, Loaiza, and Perez. javier Vazquez was an option, but the Expos wanted Ordonez. Re-signing Jaime Navarro remains a possibility, and there is talk of sending Jon Garland back to the Cubs for Juan Cruz. In the bullpen, Damaso Marte remains, Edwin Almonte is a lock for a slot, and it has been reported that KW is looking at signing Jesse Orosco, Jose Lima and Eddie Guardado.

Wayne, humorous.

I don't care if guys are from Mars, Puerto Rico, or Bridgeport. As long as they give us a chance to win.

Edwin Almonte is long gone, by the way.

I did like the "Rowandez" thing, though
