elrockinMT
Checking a story on WWW.SI.Com LA was after Carlos Beltran, but KC said the Dodgers didn't have anyone they were interested in. Well, that makes me think that if LA is offering O. Perez for hitting and KC, who needs pitching, says the Bums don't have anyone they want that maybe the Konerko for Perez idea has some strong possible merit and may actually happen. Of course the Dodgers might have offered him to someone else already too.
Soxbadger
What the Dodgers think Perez is worth and what he really is worth are 2 different things. Perez for Edmonds, Cardinals wouldnt go for it. Perez for Beltran, seems KC wont do it. Perez for Lee, Sox would not do it. The reality of the situation, is that even when I look past Konerko's half season's of badness, I realize that at any moment he could become one of the leagues best hitters. He can hit any fastball, and he is a pretty good off spead hitter. We complain that he gidp to much, but most of those grounders were sharp hit but just at people. If the Sox did not have a bunch of right handed power, Konerko would be much more valauble in our eyes. La needs a hitter bad, and Konerko is a hitter thats available. It is with great trepidation I read the news each day, because while right now I might want Perez, there were times where I would look at Konerko's swing and just see that he would be good for a long time. Pastime
I think it would take a 3-team deal for Beltran to come here - normally, GM's will not trade players to their division rivals.

Pastime
If you've read any of the numerous articles about the supposed trade, you might have stumbled upon a few nuggets about now Perez is a mouthy guy who complains when he doesn't get his way. Paul Loduca called him "gutless" for crying to the media.
SuperSteve
They don't want him, have been trying to move him for awhile. They haven't even had him that long. Just some thoughts..I would take him though.

elrockinMT
It sounds like they are over-valuing what they can get for him. I am guessing he will get moved something this offseason though. Let's hope that Kenny Williams see's the same thing about Perez. I can't deny that the idea of having him in a Sox uniform next year is intriguing, but Konerko is a solid player and I am confident in saying he will rebound next year. Look at O. Perez' record. He has one good year going 15-11 with an ERA of 3.00, but he has been injured and missed an entire season and last year was a 12 game winner with an ERA of about 4.50. He indeed did whine and cry about lack of run support and was probably upset with pitching for the Dodgers, but a 4.50 ERA is not good and you should not have to score a ton of runs every game for a guy to compete. I am thinking Konerko and/or Lee is way to much to give LA for Perez. I hope KW doesn't get caught up in salary dumping or picking up a starter at any cost. witesoxfan
Fanof14, one thing you should remember is that this was pretty much Perez's sophomore year. In his first year with the Dodgers, I believe he was 15-10 with an ERA of 3.00 on the dot. Regardless, he'd win a few more games with us. The thing that makes me leery about him is that he sounds a little like Jamie Navarro. He went off to the media about how the Dodger offense wasn't giving him enough run support, yet he had an ERA of 4.50. In how many of those games would 3 or 4 runs have done the trick? That Dodger offense was weak as hell, and everybody could see that, so it's like asking an old dog to learn new tricks. So I'm wondering if maybe Perez = Navarro when complaining to the media. God knows that's about the last thing we need.

Cool - like I've mentioned, I don't know much about him, except what's posted. Yeah, the Jaime type of attitude is unnerving. If Esteban went through 2 or 3 loses that were 1-0 losses without whining, Perez should be able to as well.

I just checked the stats, and I knew he went to LA in the Sheff deal, but I couldn't remember how much he had pitched with Atlanta. He never really did pitch a full season, but he pitched more then I thought he did. About 95 innings in both 00 and 01.
