The Beast
I've given a lot of thought to this, and I was thinking, what if we signed Wells to an incentive laden deal like the Yankees did with Lieber. Yes I know that we did not give him the opprotunity afterwards, he left, but honestly, that back of his, (with limitations) could help the Sox in '04. The Beast
Not even for an incentive laden minor league deal 300,000 + 500,000 if he makes the club...wouldn't be that bad for a number 5...
greasywheels121
Sure if he only cost that much, but Wells would expect much much more....

Pastime
We should just offer him $1000 and a lifetime pass to Old Country Buffet - that might just do it.

He'll get 4 mill. If he was available for that (500k), I guarantee you most of the majors would be after him.
Pastime
He has never cared about his physical conditioning or cared about his health. That was fine about 10 years ago, but it's catching up with him now. He broke down and amounted to s*** for us, and he did the same in the World Series. The Yankees were f$cked after he broke down. He cost them that game, and possibly the Series. He's just a risk now. He could go 25-5 for some team, but what if his out-of-shape fatass breaks down? I would rather spend money on "lesser" risks than a wild spirit who doesn't give two craps about his health or conditioning. Let him rot away in mediocrity, which is the perfect backdrop for his career.
SuperSteve
Two tubs of goo on one team. That'd be, well, UGLY. I'd rather have Bob f***ing Wells, than David Wells. Hey, atleast tub of goo #1 would have someone to go to the buffets with now.
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
I'd rather have Dawn Wells.

DBAHO
I heard the Padres were really, really interested in Wells and offered him a 6 mill deal. He'll go there or stay with da Yanks with prob ain't gonna happen. We don't need his injured ass at that price anyways.
The Critic
We should just offer him $1000 and a lifetime pass to Old Country Buffet - that might just do it. That could wind up costing the Sox more than Albert Belle did... And I don't even want Wells WATCHING a Sox game ever again.
