supernuke
The Giants did not offer him arbitration so if Colon goes we could get him with out giving up a draft pick. This might make it a little more attractive.
mac9001
Yeah, lets just go ahead and call him plan B. If Colon rejects arbitration, or if he makes it clear that he won't sign, i say go straight for Ponson. I hope Colon signs somewhere by next week, cause every passing day we wait on him it hurts out chances with other FAs.
Chisoxfn
I think Colon could be had for money similar to what Escobar got, maybe even a bit less, especially with some other solid starters still sitting out there. If Colon is probably going to accept the Angels offer, then it wouldn't be too bad to sign Ponson and then invest the additional funds into a 5th starter or if the Sox are confident they can get their fifth in a Konerko or Magglio trade then they could invest that extra money into the bullpen. supernuke
If Colon leaves I think signing Ponson and trading for Perez is probably the best we would be able to do. As long as they put together a strong bullpen to go with it I would be happy with it.
