supernuke
I can't see trading Konerko and Ordonez for a #3 starter and a catcher we don't need.
Dodgerz
11/23/2003 1:00 AM ET High hopes for Hanrahan By Ken Gurnick / MLB.com Joel Hanrahan gets congratulated by his Vero Beach teammates after throwing a no-hitter in 2002. (Vero Beach Dodgers) LOS ANGELES -- At 22, Joel Hanrahan is the oldest of three young pitchers the Dodgers hope will form the nucleus of a starting rotation that will be around for a long time. Hanrahan was a second-round pick in the 2000 draft out of an Iowa high school. Signed by former Dodgers outfielder Mitch Webster, Hanrahan is a 6-3, 230-pound right-hander who in 2003 continued his methodical climb through the minor league system. He went 10-4 in 23 starts with a 2.43 ERA for Double-A Jacksonville, earning honors as the Southern League's most outstanding pitcher and a late promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas, where he struggled in five starts to a 1-2 record and 10.08 ERA. The organization is not concerned about his late problems, which mirrored difficulty he encountered during a late-season promotion from Single-A to Double-A the previous year. "He logged quite a few innings by then (158 1/3 for the season) and he might have been tired," said Marty Reed, Hanrahan's pitching coach at Jacksonville. "His walk total was high at Triple-A (20 in 25 innings) and that's unusual from what I've seen of him." Reed had the pleasure of having Hanrahan and Edwin Jackson on the same Jacksonville staff, and when they were promoted, top left-handed prospect Greg Miller paid Reed a visit. Where Jackson is often compared to Doc Gooden because of his youthful lanky build and blazing fastball, Reed sees Hanrahan as more of an innings-eater. "His fastball touches 94 but usually is around 90 and 91 and his slider is tremendous," said Reed. "He's a big guy, but he throws around the plate most of the time. If I had to compare him, he's more of a workhorse like Hideo Nomo. He'll take the ball all the time. He's competitive. He wants to be out there. He's a big kid and he's still young, only 22. He's not a man yet, if you know what I mean. He's a guy, maybe like Rick Helling a couple years ago." Reed said being a staffmate of Jackson's made both of them better. "Joel was competitive with Edwin, they'd try to out-do each other," said Reed. "His change-up needs to get better. He certainly could be real good. He has to keep from dropping his arm slot, because then he pushes his fastball."
southsider2k5
All of us Sox fans have heard of what? Dude are you out trolling or something? NO one has heard of that deal. Don't go out and give this board a bad name Beastly
Gene Honda Civic
I think it's funny that Beastly is spreading terribly lopsided rumors on the Dodgers Website.... I can feel a surge of trolls registering as we speak.
DBAHO
No way we giv up Ordonez without AT LEAST gettin Edwin Jackson or Greg Miller in return. I heard Lo Duca could be goin to Atlanta to replace Javy Lopez. Maybe u should try some trade scenario on their board?

POST YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE DODGERS FORUM BOARD UNDER THE GENERAL BOARD! GOOD LUCK, Dodgerz Perez, Izturis, and Mota for Konerko and Valentin would be a dream come true. To bad there is no chance that the Dodgers do such a deal. Perez, Lo Doca, and Hanrahan for Konerko and Maggs would be interesting, but I would have to say no. Plus - Sox save about 14M(give or take a million). Some of that could be spent to find a difference making FA. - The Sox get a very good catcher - The Sox get a decent middle/bottom of the rotation starter - The Sox get a decent pitching prospect Negatives - The Sox really don't address any of the major weaknesses(top of the rotation starter, right handed reliever, middle infielder/top of the order hitter) - Lo Doca at 31 has seen his numbers decrease the last 2 years - Perez scares me with his inconsistancy and poor away stats - Hanrahan is a decent prospect, but projects to be a middle of the rotation starter AT BEST This trade does free money, but doesn't address major weaknesses, so I would say no. Dodgerz
Beastly, Sorry, my intent wasn't to get anyone in trouble. I just wanted to advise you all The Dodgers side of things.
Soxbadger
Dodgers, I have read the Dodgers MLB forum quite a few times and this rumor seems to be floating around more from the Dodgers side then the Sox side I would say. From my viewpoint I would say that this trade is unlikely because the Sox have little interest in Lo Duca. If the dodgers want Maggs they will probably have to take on payroll. It seems the Dodgers are unwilling to take on that much money cause they have the option of getting Vlad cheaper than Maggs and he would not be a 1 year rental. The reality is the offer and only trade that might get done is Konerko for Perez. The Sox are not trading these players because they are bad, they would be trading them because they need the money. Konerko and Perez both are question marks, Perez could of had a fluke season and get shelled in the AL. Konerko could put a good season together and hit .300 40 120. The reverse could happen also, Perez going lights out and Konerko regressing further. But unlike Perez, the White Sox do not want to move him, they only are considering it for money reasons. Konerko does not have a bad attitude, and besides for his slumps has been well liked by fans. I was at the Twins game when he hit the pinch hit home run, and you could just tell how most fans wanted Konerko to do good, and felt bad for him. If it was not for Perez's bad reputation and 4+ era in the NL, he would be much more valuable. But last year most people were hesitant about a Konerko for Ramirez trade. Right now the Dodgers are probably waiting the Sox out to see if they will sweeten the deal. If the deal is going to get done it will probably include Valetin or Brochard. Otherwise I think these teams are just to far apart on what they each want. Perhaps because Evans and Williams both want to get the best of the other to prove that he is the GM, who knows. But the sox dont want lo duca, seems like we are getting things we dont really need. SB
Molto
I wouldn't mind throwing Borchard in the deal, along with Konerko and Valentin, to land Izturis and Perez. Even though I think we may then be giving them too much, getting a young shortstop is vital to this organization and getting another start is vital to this upcoming season. Gene Honda Civic
Badger, That was the most objective, well written post I've read in a while... Oh yeah and it just happens that I agree with all of it. Me thinks Borchard is outta here too.

Gene Honda Civic
Id love to have LoDuca but not at the price of Ordonez. And who is Mota? Here is the the ranking of GIDP rate.... thenumber all the way on the right is How many fewer/more DP's you grounded into than if the "average MLer" was at the plate. MAGGS and Kongerko were the 2 worst in the AL... Kongerko the Worst in Basball. Lo Duca was right up there, 2nd worst in the NL, 3rd in baseball MOTA is one of the Dodgers lights-out relievers who benefited from throwing at chavez ravine. His K/BB ratio went through the roof last year... showing he figured something out.. I doubt the dodgers are giving this guy up.

Guest williestokes
Well it is the offensively weaker NL and Chavez Ravine, a notorious pitchers park. Guess that explains in part LAs great pitching. Some of them, though, are just flat out talented, like Gagne...
YASNY
If we are talking about Perez for Konerko, straight up, then there is no way in hell we add Magglio for Lo Duca and Hanrahan, or whatever that young pitcher's name is. That's insane.

supernuke
Lets just make one big ass blockbuster trade here. Maggs, Konerko, Valentin, Borchard and Rauch plus one prospect for Brown, Perez, Izturis, Mota and a prospect. I figured I should at least come up with one crazy idea this off season. Lineup Harris 2b Rowand/Reed cf Thomas 1b/dh Palmeiro 1b/dh Lee lf Sanders rf Crede 3b Olivo/ Alomar c Izturis ss Starters Brown MB Loizia Perez Garland Ok I'll quit dreaming now.
