Sn Report: White Sox Acquire Colon

OK...great move but I don't want to here anybody talk about who is going to start the first game of the playoffs.

I agree.

This doesn't put us in the playoffs. plenty can happen to prevent us, but judging by the talent and numbers, we looks pretty good.

our rotation has one of the better 1-2 duos, followed by a talented young Garland and a solid Wright and capable Rauch.

our pen isn't as strong iwth the loss of Osuna, but with Gordon here, it still is a good one. Koch, Marte, Glover, Wunsch, and Gordon is fine with me.

offensively we are good and can be great. that is all in the hands of Crede, Rowand, and Jimenez. If these guys play up to par, we will be better than last season on offense.

defense and fundamentals is still a question, but I think with Crede, Jimenez, Olivo, and Rowand out there a full season, we should improve slightly jsut from their energy, if not their talent alone.

and speaking of number one, BUEHRLE IS OUR #1.

NOBODY should say Colon is it. as good as Colon is, Buehrle is still the best pitcher on this team.

it is a great combo though. the creative, lefty with a lot of pitches and great control, and the big righty, with his good fastball and uncanny ability to get stronger and stronger as the game goes on.

What do you mean you wish the best to me and Lee? We're not going anywhere. I sure as hell am not going to become a Montreal fan - Holy crow! We're still moving to Chicago and it is not now nor has it ever been about Rocky. Actually I'm very glad he was traded. Now when we attend games we won't have to see his skanky girlfriend's face in the stands LOLOLOL - GO WHITE SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :D :P

Lol...first off welcome aboard..and secondly this move warrants enthusiasm, but the Sox still got those Twins ahead of them and they are the division champs until someone knocks them out.

I've not seen so many happy Sox fans since the start of the 2000 playoffs. I think this is going to be a real exciting season. I've had a great feeling this whole offseason and I'm real excited for the start of the season.

As far as who starts..I'm not concerned cause I think when its all set and done were going to have one of the best 5 man rotations in the majors, that has pretty much 5 potential aces, and two proven aces.

I love it :headbang

whoooaaaa...slow down there partner....we dont even know who the 5th starter is yet..and garland and wright were both disappointments imo last year eventhough they did win 12 and 14 games...they still have alot of room for growth...5 potential aces???....would be nice but cmon now

I'm dead serious with that statement. The other three will take some time, but they will all grow up big time. Rauch has a long way to go, but I really think he's going to come in and win the Rookie of the Year..as a matter of fact I don't doubt it whatsoever.

I'm very confident he's the type of kid that will come in, and pitch, and yes he will struggle, but he's going to be a real good #5 and even better as he evolves.

As far as Wright and Garland go, they are better then most teams in the majors 3 and 4 and both should only get better. They both pitch innings, as do Buerhle and Garland which really makes it easier on the bullpen.

Well I might as well share my favorite Rocky story

My favorite Rocky story was in 2001, when I went to Anaheim to see the Sox and Angels( The Sox won 15-1 ) I was sitting above the entrance to the bullpens in the outfeild, and when all the Sox pitchers came through there on there way to the bullpen, I decided to take a pic of them, everyone else just went straight to the bullpen, but Rocky stopped, and stared right up at me and flashed a HUGE grin, as I took the picture, it was priceless...

That was an awesome game Cali. I was there, sitting up in the club. Got free tickets (I love free) and remember that was one of the rare times I actually get to see the Sox win. Usually when I go they suck..of course they do lose like every game on the west.

I can't wait till they make it out to LA and Anaheim. Buerhle started that game if I recalled and pitched awesome. Rowand also had a monster game, my friend, she was going nuts..she loves Rowand.

Either way I'm hoping we get to see wins on the west coast this year, and from the Sox in general.

Yep Burly pitched a CG, Aaron jacked a HR, Sandy jacked a 3 run bomb if I remember, and to top it off Maggs cranked 2 out, the second of with landed right in the section right next to me (I was in sect 250, I think it landed in 249? maybe you know the park better jas) and on the highlights of the game that night, I can see me raising my arms in triumph! :D

ok i'll trust you guys on this trade.

i do think biddle may have a great year, tho.

p.s. why did we let the royals sign lowe?

we coulda taken him back?

Why? Is everyone in love with Sean Lowe, come on he pitched o.k. as a 5th option for us one year, not a biggie.

Lowe isn't very good.

Last season his era was in the 5's and he couldn't stick with a lousy Pittsburgh team.

jas they had better GROW UP and fast.... or were f***ed..........that would only leave us with a #1 and 2.............i still think one more starter would have been nice.......i hate to think we laid all of our hopes on a couple of guys who were pressured last year and will probably feel much of the same this.................mho..........as for the lowe love fest... its too bad we couldnt have had him back.... he was a good work horse when he was with us......of course he didnt do so hot in pitts and from then on but when he was here he did alright... i would have more faith in him than garland, wright, glover, and rauch all combined.............
