WHarris1
From rotoworld.com Eddie Guardado-R-MIN Sources have told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer that Eddie Guardado will sign with the Mariners for $14 million over three years. winninguglyin83
The Twins' management is our Number One ally. And our management is their Number One ally. It's a wonderful system in baseball. Two teams -- Red Sox and Yankees -- sit at the head table. Dozens of other fight over scraps.

YASNY
The White Sox had like $15 M on the table...WTF? But that was with $14,999,950 deferred.
sox-r-us
I heard this on the radio here in the Northwest today morning. The Ms have an offer for 3 years 24 mill to Tejada too. Looks like we will not be getting anyone. I can see us dumping payroll though. Oh well....
sox-r-us
Before we accuse Kenny of anything here, keep in mind that the Ms actually get fans to watch them (they have probably one of the highest attendances in the MLB) As a player, why would I sign for a sh~t hole club like the Sox who no one comes to watch I hope the Sox move to a city that will care for them. All Sox fans do is whine and moan about something 10 freaking years ago instead of paying to watch them play, thereby helping management make some moves to win. People don't go to watch them because the owner is a f***ing moron and he doesn't want to fork over the money to field a decent team. Trust me, if we had a team that could win 90+ games the Cell would be packed every night.
BrandoFan
Paying Guardado 15 over 4 would have been a stretch. And over 3? Krazy. Why would you want an aging closer when it's unclear if you're gonna have a team good enough to HAVE many close-able games in the first place? Mexican Eddie has been a legitimate closer (career ERA is still over 4.00 and his save conversion % not THAT impressive) but he's sucked in tie game situations in the last 2 years. All in all, is he worth 5 Mill a year? Maybe maybe not, but SOX CAN'T PAY HIM THAT ANYMORE THAN CAN PAY 10+ MILL TO COLON AND 3.6 MILL TO GORDON. That's the most important distinction that dwarfs any other considerations.
sox-r-us
Bulls*** We had a team going down the wire last year and no one would show up unless it was the half price nights Even after we won the division and lost to the Ms, the next year there was not much increase in attendance Go take a look at a Ms game some time and see how many people actually go to see them play The facts are the Sox fans are pathetic when it comes to attending and supporting their team Here is some news for you: JR WILL NEVER SPEND unless we fill out the stadium....no business man would do it. There is no guarantee he will spend even if we fill out the stadium (see the Ms they never do anything at the trade deadline despite selling out), but if you want to see your Sox win, get your ass to the stadium Otherwise we will never attract the key FAs....when has anyone ever said they want to go play for the White Sox? SoxRule
If we are so damned pathetic, why are you hanging out with a bunch of Sox fans? Because he (or she) is a Sox fan like the rest of us. I'm a diehard Sox fan but I completely agree with sox-r-us. Sox fans are truly horrible in supporting their team. When the Sox went to the playoffs in 2000, they were still lucky to draw 20,000 on a weeknight in September when they were getting close to clinching the division. Same thing happened last year. When was the last time we heard any free agent, any player for that matter, express desire to play for the Sox? Meanwhile, with the Cubs putting together a team that should be competitive for quite a few years, the Wrigley Field mystique, Dusty Baker, the fan support...you're going to see a lot more big names who want to play for the Cubs. It sucks but it's true.
BrandoFan
We had a team going down the wire last year and no one would show up unless it was the half price nights Absolutely. We averaged UNDER HALF of stadium's capacity in the entire year, tooping out at a generously estimated 1,9 Mill. Without half-price s***, without kids days and cheap ticket prices (compared to Boston, for example), we probably don't even draw 1.5 Mill-- and all that with hardly a weekday DAY game. I still remember then World Champs Angels being greeted by some 17 K on a perfect evening wather-wise. 19 K for dvision rival Minny on an even better night. Etc, etc, etc.
upnorthsox
And yet the Sox have the 5th richest Local TVRadio contract in the majors And yet the Sox after getting $9 mil more in National TV money cuts payroll by $6 mil And yet Minny has the same attendance as us but outspends us in payroll And yet Minny who gets about $25 mil less in local TV\Radio outspends us And yet the Expos with no TV\Radio outspends us And yet the Expos with half our attendance outspends us And yet.....and yet...... attendance matters? It's All the Sox Fans Fault!!!!!!!!!!!
CSF
22,000 people on a 70 degree evening on Half-Priced night against the Boston Red Sox while still occupying 1st place and in a playoff battle. Meanwhile crosstown, the other Chicago team is in 3rd place, playing the last place Pittsburgh Pirates and gets a full f***ing house! Someone tell me: What's wrong with this picture? Wow smart ass.....if you could be objective for a while, you coudl recognize the root of the problem Most folks on this board, I believe, are die hards and I do not doubt their loyalty...but there are tons of others who whine and b**** and still do not go to the games
israel4ever
ChiSoxFan... You can't compare Sox fans to Cubs fans; cubs fans are f***ing morons, who would pay to watch the ivy grow at Wrigley! :fthecubs

I wasn't being a smart ass, I was asking a serious question. I see you still didn't answer it. If we are serious fans, why b**** about attendance to us? sox-r-us
Yes, many Cub fans are moron, but fact is they go to watch and that HELPS them field a team they want to field I will bet you anything the Cubs will be competitive and contending for the next 3 to 4 years easily unless some of their pitchers' arms fall off

I see you still didn't answer it. If we are serious fans, why b**** about attendance to us? I am not b****ing about attendance to you with the intent to get some of you to go to games. I know most of you do, and moist of you go to more than I could (since I do not live in Chicago) But I do want to point out that attendance is the reason, and I have heard tons of Sox fans STILL crying for the lock out, the Belle signing, the Ventura release etc OMFG...get over it
sox-r-us
And while JR is definitely an issue, you do realize he has a board to report to too. I saw JR spend TONS of cash to maintain the Bulls year in and year out for a decade.

BrandoFan
And yet Minny has the same attendance as us but outspends us in payroll Does it have anything to do with the fact that Twins owner Carl Pohlad is estimated to be worth over 20 BILLION dollars? Think about the figure for a second.
