sox-r-us
Rumor on Cubs message board is Garrett Anderson from Angels for Moises Alou, Juan Cruz and cash That would be great for the Cubs....they get the LH bat and a non-injury prone LF
Rowand44
O god please no, why the hell would the angels do that?? That would be a great trade for the flubs, garrett anderson is one hell of a player, and a left handed bat the cubs really need.
1549
Its the cubs, c'mon they will find a way to screw it up
Bighurt52235
I don't see this happening... What is the salary of Anderson. I think Alou is around 6 mill.
Chisoxfn
Anderson is around the same amount, if not less. They have him at a great price and he's a free agent next year. This is a Cub fan wishing. If it happened, it would be a great move by the Cubs.
DBAHO
Only way this happens is if the Angels can't resign Anderson to a long term deal and they end up signin Vlad Guerrero rite under the noses of Baltimore.

Still, what will they do with Alou. Now if the Cubs took Aaron Sele's bad contract as well, then I'd say its a definate possibility cause it would actually give the Angels incentive. The Angels don't even save any money and they give up their best position player for Moises Alou...not gonna happen.

I actually think Seattle mite go afta Sele again, he was a big success there a few years ago, and they'll need a starter with Garcia leavin. If the Angels pay part of Sele's salary, it could be possible.
Chisoxfn
Well he's owed 8 mill...I think Sele is unmoveable. I think the Angels entire plan is to have Vladdy and Anderson as the Right and left fielders. One the righty power, the other the lefty power and then Nomar as the 3rd part of the trio. Its just hard to figure out if they can cut enough payroll to do it. I'd think one of Salmon/Erstad or Sele would have to go.
sox-r-us
First off, Anderson is not being easy with the contract extensions with the Angels Next, remember the Cubs are paying cash as part of the deal...that could be a swing factor depending on the $ involved

And I don't think the Cubs could offer enough cash to make that deal worth while. They'd need it to be a lot more blockbuster with them taking Salmon and Anderson for Alou, Cruz and Patterson or something like that. I just don't see a snowballs chance that this is true. SuperSteve
Not going to happen. Anderson may be traded before the trade deadline next season if the Angels are out of it and it is clear he won't be back. But it wouldn't be for anyone like Alou. Jas had a good point with Sele, but I don't think anyone would take a chance on Sele.

Anderson's deal was $20 million over four years, ending after the 2004 season. I couldn't find a breakdown by year of the contract, but one would guess that it would be more in the final year of the deal.
Chisoxfn
I was thinking it was at the most 6, but I thought 5 for whatever reason.
BrandoFan
Anderson is one of the best hitter in AL when you take into account his clutchness of the last 2 years (something like 380 with RISP), is good defensive LF and has deceptively solid speed. And he is relatively cheap and only 31 or 32yo. He is a fan favorite, a HUGE part of 2002 team. Why would Angels, who worked SO hard getting their fanbase back and assmebling a competitive team, get rid of their leader again? Why would they want a one pitch power pitcher with no control and mental issues and a broken down 37yo hasbeen? Patterson? The dude has a horroble OBP, is an overrated slugger and is coming off a career-threatening injury. He is arbit eligible after 2004, so it's not like he'll be super cheap either. cwsox
Rumor on Cubs message board those 5 words equal "rumor on the Sox message board" as warnings that whatever follows is silliness
witesoxfan
How many time to I have to say this, don't believe a s***tin thing on ANY message board you see EVER. On the CUBS message board favoring the CUBS immensely. You think this deal is actually in works? I highly doubt it. So just don't even bother going to other message boards for rumors, because odds are, they are all s*** rumors that some fan just made up to start conversation. I did a similar thing with ARod earlier this year....you think anyone thought it was actually a possibility?
YASNY
Even if the Angels have Vladdy in their sights, this does not make any sense whatsoever. Cub fans are so lame. :fthecubs
