Steff
My initial reply was merely a question. Nothing more, nothing less. You were the one who became defensive about it. I was never derogatory towards you, but you felt the need, since your initial reply back to me, to name call and threaten me, then have the gall to tell me to act like an adult. Unreal. A question.. yea, ok.
SuperSteve
and I am getting worried that we have Patrick Bateman in a sig and another Patrick Bateman as a poster - For us who don't understand, please explain.
Steff
For us who don't understand, please explain. Brando has a Patrick Bateman quote in his sig. Bateman was the lead in the American Psycho (I think that's the right name). Thus I think CW was implying (faceously) that we had to crazy posters here.. Guest JimH
I'm a regular here, and just read through this whole thread. I don't remember Steff ever saying Colon was going to NYY, she, along with a million other posters here, may have speculated it. Patrick, if you were posing the question just to take a "shot", shame on you. If not, that's what the little icons are for off to the left, so people have a clear understanding if you're joking, or what. Steff, I agree with Rex to a point. You may not mean to, but your posting style and the way you state things imply "take it to the bank". Good example was the Ozzie Guillen having as much chance of being manager as my grandma. I clearly understand you're just repeating what you've been told, but I didn't know it when you made the statement (about Guillen). One thing Patrick is right about, in my opinion, is that in a message board format, it's fair game. There was no indication about a post being directed at a certain individual, so it's not as if you're sitting at a table having a private conversation, and I come over and say, "hey, mind if I eavesdrop?" To his credit, he's refrained from escalating the "language", i.e. arrogant eh-whole. (Point noted: I am the LAST one to discuss use of salty language ) Not that it's right or not that it's wrong, but personally, I perceive the posts from people with inside connections to be, I don't know, not condescending but more like "book it, it's gonna happen". I rarely if ever see a post like: "I've heard he's probably going to the Yankees." It's more like, "He won't be back." That is quite possibly how only I perceive things, and maybe "it's me". But frankly, if something WERE posted in a style that implies "take it to the bank", and then it didn't happen ... I'd call someone out too. I'd try not to be ... what's the phrase I'm looking for here ... ummmm ... an "arrogant asshole" about it but I would suggest that whomever the inside sources are might very well be as clueless as the rest of us

Steff
Eh.. Ozzie as manager :puke . F'ing Gaston. If he had only kept his mouth shut. It was in the bank.. but that's water under the bridge now. I never would have said it was unless it was stated that way to me - and it did come from higher up than Wills, btw. No matter. I respect your opinion Jim.. but I'd never say "take it to the bank" unless it was so - which it rarely is even if the player himself tells it to ya. If I imply that in the future I hope someone calls me on it. I don't mean to sound like that. I did say "take it the bank" that Bart was gone though. And FYI... it was "my" grama who had a better shot at being manager And no.. I didn't indicate initially the post was for Aboz.. but I did in a reply. My bad. Guest JimH
Steff, does your grandmother really have season tickets for 30+ years? I'd guess she lives in/near Bridgeport, yes? I have a great aunt who just turned 90, she lives near 28th and Emerald, what a riot she is. The only way she'll go now is if I get her into the Stadium Club (and pay for it too). She's the closest thing I've got to an insider ... she knows everybody in Bridgeport!

I think it's 37 years this year.. but my dad said they had them when he was a kid so it might be longer than that. I only knew found out how long when my grampa passed away and I paid for her tickets for the 3 years following that until she got her finances sorted out. She lives in Oak Lawn. BrandoFan
Excellent way to look at it. Houston has 30 more million to spend, and considering Pettite was excellent in the playoffs recently, that inflates his value. Still 10.5 Mill a year is a few Mill too much, you're right. See what a great state Texas is. Supposedly the lack of Texas state income tax will basically allow him to make the same amount. I heard that interview too Tex. Seems like a good guy, also talked about how Rocket is working out with him.
