As for those of us who think that Jose is gone (and I want that so bad I can taste it), who exactly will be willing to take on a SS with fading range, an erratic arm, and a pitiful .227 average?

What's his 4-year OPS (THE single most useful/used offensive stat in baseball) while with the Sox? I thought so. What's his RISP average in 4 year with the Sox? How's his overall baserunning? Bunting? Again, thought so.

Fading range? One of THE highest if not highest career RangeFactors in the majors....Finished SECOND of ALL everyday SS in ZoneRating in 2003. Fading.

One of THE most efficient DP-turners in the game.

How about you look at how many actual RUNS (runs, remember those?) his errors lead to? Sox fan Jim from yahoo web site actually did a study, there is a link somewhere on soxtalk.....Besides, only 10 errors in last 4 and a half months of the season. Looks like with Santana's help, Jose is improving THE only truly weak part of his game.

Think before you type next time.

Yes, he can hit home runs (usually he gets them in spurts and then doesn't hit one for a month), and he can drive in runs (with those spurting home runs), but other than that, what is his value? I can't believe it's much at this point
.

Now that's just dumb as all get out.

GLOD?  No, that's Paul Konerko, and it's spelled CLOD.

You're thinking about Ross Gload

Gload, that's who I meant -

the way he was talked up, I thought he had the world's best numbers - doesn't sound like anyone we can count on - so if PK gets traded and since Daubach is gone, who plays 1st when Frank doesn't?

I was hoping it would be Nick Johnson, but we all know what happened there.

At point, who knows. It's a long off season.

It's 4 AM where I live, and I live 10 miles East of Chicago.

I finished the semester at college last night, and I'm not sleepy at all (God bless caffeine), so I'm sitting here with all of you lucky souls.

10 miles East of Chicago puts you in a boat (I hope) or in Indiana - I never have a clue what time zone Indiana operates on -

congrats on the semester end - what school?

Indiana is all screwed up. I think the time zone splits the state and then they do not use Daylight Savings Time. I never know what time it is in INdiana. LOL

BTW if you think LA will give Perez/Itzituris and Mota for 13 Million worth of Konerko and Valentin, you're kidding yourself.

If the trade does take place, it's strctly Konerko PLUS prospect/good cash for Perez.

You're right, I'm sure, but I did say we'd have to pad the offer with prospects.

Please don't laugh at my back-assward state (Indiana). Basically, we used to observe the Central time zone. However, the businessmen in Indianapolis, South Bend, Fort Wayne, etc. finally convinced the state government (in the 1980's) to take the Eastern time zone as permanent since a lot of them did everyday business in Detroit and Cleveland. I bulls*** you not. However, not all the state could do that, so basically there are 2 counties that rely on Chicago for all our news, times, weather, etc. Only 2 counties in this stupid state (that I know of) observe "Daylight Savings Time." They are the "Lake" county region (my home), and the "Porter" county region (our neighbors - Chicago wannabes). I really got to get the f*** out of here.

Needless to say, 95% of our state is in Eastern time, even though it's retarded to have that be the case. The rest of us civilized people with all our teeth are on "Chicago" time. Thank God. Like they say - "after you go through Indiana, set your watch 20 years ahead."

I wish I could pack my suitcase right now, and I'm actually contemplating it. I want out!

Thanks for "clarifying" that.

Basically, Indiana should be on central time - the whole state. But businessmen had our whole state be on Eastern time so that the businessmen would be on the same time as Detroit and Cleveland. However, two counties just East of Chicago had to deal with Chicago times, so we got an exemption, if you want to call it that, and we are on Chicago time. We are the only two civilized counties in Indiana, TRUST ME. The rest of the state is overrun with hicks, and 4-toothed people that couldn't spell cat if you spelled them the "C" and "T."

Does that make more sense?

Wow, I get onto soxtalk to see maybe a few new posts from yas or pastime and I find a three-page thread started by cw. And some rational conversation too.

I just wanted to get in on the action. I'm taking a break from studying for my 8 am chemistry final here at isu. Pulling an all-nighter. :headbang

Sorry to hear about your health cw. Hope you get feeling better soon.

eastern time is much, much better -

there is about 15 minutes difference in actual daylight between where I am and Chicago, but that is essentially that we have light an hour later all sumemr long - really nice in the summer - and in winter as well, it gets dark too early in Chicago, I like the extra daylight

The fact that you are farther north contributes to the extra daylight as well.
