Spiff
http://www.soxtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=11145 everyone jumped on antoine's case, and mine for that matter. whitesoxfan99 was the only one who didn't and he gets much propers for that. to recap: LaFrentz 8 pts 5 reb 1 assist per game Welsch 6 pts 3 reb 2 assists per game Walker 17 pts 10 reb (leads team) 5 assists per game So LaFrentz + Welsch still doesn't equal Walker. I said it was a bad trade at the time, and I was called basketball ignorant by many people. Remember this next you jump on someone in any given thread. have a nice day. That's fine. I can deal with wrong predictions, but when people attack predictions and call them things like basketball ignorant, that's pretty weak. Especially when they turn out to be pretty informed.
The Critic
I remember this line: "Walker is not a horrible shooter." And here are Walker's numbers this season, as compared to his career averages: FG% This year - 44.5% Career - 41.8% ( an upgrade but still average at best ) 3PFG% This year - 28.7% Career - 33.3% ( A DROP from an already pathetic % ) FT% This year - 54.5% Career - 66.8% ( FIFTY FOUR PERCENT from the line???? ) Seems like my opinion ( which you seem to take great offense to - sorry about that ) is still pretty "informed"....although he does grab 10 boards a game, which is nice. And I guess 17 points per game is helpful, no matter how many shots it takes to get them. The reason that he probably appears to be doing better is the fact that he's on a very powerful team and his role suits his talents better than trying to be a go-to guy. Which is exactly what I predicted in that thread thank you very much.

I was not offended by your posts as much as Sox2004's. The reason he's doing better is because he IS a better player than LaFrentz. That is my contention, you can rag on him all you want but the fact remains that they made a dumb trade. And even with numbers that are down from his career averages, he is still much better than Raef. LaFrentz is a career .356% 3 point shooter, but is only shooting .200% this year, his FG pct is right on with his career pct (.459% to .460%), and his free throw pct is better. Yet he still is not close to as good as Antoine. People contended that the Celts got the better of this trade, and when I said that wasn't true, they jumped on me. It's obvious now that a guy who scored 20 pts a game for you last year is more valuable than one who scores 8 a game this year, and vice versa. I try to look at the basis before attacking an opinion. Most of the time when people disagree, they are working from two sets of "facts".
