When Glover came up with us in 2001, he ery good stuff- mid-90s fastball, sharp breaking slider and a filthy curve. He gave up sometihng like 2 hits in first 9 innings with us.

But his command sucked, and by tinkering with his delivery all the time, Sox pretty much nootered the poor sod- no velocity, no break. I hear the Angels have fixed him, tho.

Grilli? If he is what Diaz and Pacheco were in 2002, I have no problem with a no risk pickup. Otherwise, meh.

Here's what John Sickels thought of him,

Chicago White Sox: Jason Grilli, RHP, from the Marlins: A one-time top prospect until his career was derailed by injuries. Originally drafted by the Giants in the first round in 1997 out of Seton Hall, he was traded to Florida in '99 for Livan Hernandez. Grilli, 27, posted a 3.38 ERA in 12 starts for Triple-A Albuquerque this year, though with a poor 38/30 K/BB in 67 innings. He once drew comparisons to Matt Morris but hasn't been able to stay healthy long enough to develop his command. Grilli could be an intriguing reclamation project.

Think Pavano was a one time top notch prospect who eventually was reclamated. Of course Pavano had pitched in the majors before going to the Marlins via FA.

That being said, Grilli is in the same mold, per say. I say why not. If he sucks during spring training the sox lose 50k and send him back to the Marlins. If he does good, you throw him in the pen.

We also picked up a couple of prospects as well,

The White Sox selected pitcher Jason Grilli on Monday in the major-league phase of the Rule 5 draft and also tabbed pitchers Eric Stephenson, Frank Campos and

Darvin Withers in the minor-league portion.

Stephenson, a 21-year-old lefty, was selected from the Toronto Blue Jays. He was 4-4 with a 4.38 ERA last season at class A Charleston (W.Va.)

Campos, a right-hander, was taken from the Milwaukee Brewers. He split the 2003 season between Class AAA Indianapolis and Class AAA Campeche in the Mexican League, combining to go 8-4 with a 3.41 ERA.

Withers, a right-hander, was selected from the Oakland Athletics. He was 7-4 with a 5.45 ERA at Class AA Midland in 2003.

Duane Shafer was quoted as saying they're happy to have gotten Stephenson and they think he might turn out to be a very good prospect.

The Campos guy is 31, I'm sure he's just filler for Charlotte.
