Chisoxfn
Oh god...we just loss the key piece to the Koch trade Holt is old and couldn't suceed in AA, so he spent most of the season in A ball where he still didn't get many at bats. I am shocked someone would of taken him.
Chisoxfn
I did notice Eric Storey was taken in the AA Rule V draft by the Expos. He was decent, a solid minor leaguer in the sense that he'd help a minor league team win. Not much major league potential. Still shocked over the Holt thing. I know he hit up a storm in Texas, but hasn't found it since.
Texsox
Maybe the LA AA affiliate needed a OF. Anyone know anything about the guys we picked up?
KipWellsFan
So is the minor league Rule 5 the same as the major league one? Does Los Angeles' AAA team have to keep Holt on their roster or send him back to us? Could they ever bring him up to the majors? Anyone know anything about the guys we got? Stephenson, Campos, Withers We need futuresox.com back up and running 100% so we can get this information!
mac9001
Holt needs to stay on LA 25-man roster the entire season, if they send him down we can buy him back for something like 50 grand.

But Holt wasn't picked in the major league portion of the draft. He was picked in the AAA Rule V draft.
Texsox
This Minor League Rule V is really just a joke. I wonder who the greatest Rule V player of all time is. I can't believe I'm interested, but I am. Is there a 12 Step program to help me?
KipWellsFan
But Holt wasn't picked in the major league portion of the draft. He was picked in the AAA Rule V draft. Exactly.
Chisoxfn
Exactly. Holt will stay with that team. I think he just has to stay at AA or he can go higher, just not lower.
witesoxfan
Tex, I know Jay Gibbons was a Rule V draftee, and he's pretty good, though I couldn't tell you for sure. I'm not exactly sure how long the Rule V draft has been going on.
Cerbaho-WG
Stephenson - 4.38 ERA, bad numbers Campos - Has some upside BTW, in the major league portion of the draft the Sox drafted Jason Grilli. Put up real good numbers in AA, lost his control in AAA issuing 30 BB in 66.2 IP, but still managed a 3.32 ERA. Not a bad choice.
