Cali
No mention of the Sox getting Nomar http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines Here's the important parts: The proposed deal would send Ramirez to Texas, Rodriguez to Boston and shortstop Nomar Garciaparra to Los Angeles. The Dodgers then would ship a package of pitchers to Chicago and the White Sox would send Ordonez to Boston. A source said the Sox were asking for three pitchers from the Dodgers—lefty Odalis Perez, ace reliever Guillermo Mota and top-notch prospect Greg Miller. It's also possible Boston would send reliever Scott Williamson to Chicago in the deal. There's another way the Sox could become involved on a smaller scale. Texas is looking for young pitching and the Sox have it in right-handers Dan Wright and Jon Rauch and lefties Neal Cotts, David Sanders and Arnie Munoz. The Sox could send one of those pitchers to Boston to acquire the hard-throwing Williamson, who either would compete for the closer's job with Billy Koch or increase the likelihood that Koch will be dealt. Although WMVP-AM 1000 reported Tuesday that a deal was nearly complete, a White Sox official downplayed that. According to the report, the White Sox would send Munoz and perhaps another player to Boston.
Cali
Here is a bit on Greg Miller from BA. 2. Greg Miller, lhp Age: 19. B-T: L-L. Ht.: 6-5. Wt.: 190. Drafted: HS—Lakewood, Calif., 2002 (1st round supplemental). Signed by: Scott Groot. Background: Several Dodgers scouts say Miller is even better than Edwin Jackson. After going 2-2, 5.03 in his first six starts, Miller dominated the high Class A Florida State League and earned a promotion to Double-A Jacksonville as an 18-year-old. Strengths: Miller’s velocity has increased from the mid-80s in high school to the low 90s, and he regularly hit 95 mph in 2003. His power curveball is among the best in the organization, and he added a cutter that has morphed into a nasty slider. His average changeup gives a fourth pitch with which to attack hitters. He completes the package with command, intelligence and uncanny poise. Weaknesses: Miller’s season ended with shoulder bursitis, and some wonder if the stress of throwing a slider contributed to his problems. Other than staying healthy, he has little to work on. The Future: Though the Dodgers opted for Jackson when Hideo Nomo got hurt, Miller got serious consideration for a September spot start. He’ll be given an outside chance to make the big league rotation in the spring, but most likely will return to Double-A. Flash Tizzle
If we get Williamson, Mota, Perez, and Greg Miller I will be satisfied in trading Maggs. Hopefully Boston doesnt balk on the notion of trading Nomar to LA. On rotoworld, Boston Globe believes they should keep Nomar instead of acquiring Maggs; who makes almost 3 million more and is in the last year of his contract. If kept: Nomar would be moved to third, Mueller to seconed. By the time I wake up (2pm or so) this trade better be completed.
DBAHO
Nice find there Cali, if we end up gettin Greg Miller, Mota and Odalis Perez for Maggilo Ordonez I will be a very happy White Sox fan. Greg Miller is the stud prospect of the Dodger Organisation, and prob one of the best if not THE BEST pitching prospects in Baseball prob just behind Zack Greinke from Kansas City, while Mota will be a stud workhorse in our pen, and Perez gives us a young consistent starter. Plus Williamson as well and our pen gets much, much betta. He'll prob make $3 mill in arbitration though unless KW can work out a deal bf hand. Also this article from Phil Rogers recappin the winnerrs and losers of the offseason so far. Phil Rogers Article Winner: Magglio Ordonez. While Vladimir Guerrero won't get the $145 million over eight years that he seeks, it is clear he'll get a good price from Baltimore, which has started negotiations at $65 million over five years. If they eventually split the difference, that's about $96 million over six years. That is more than enough to keep Ordonez from believing he made a mistake asking the White Sox for $15 million a year on a contract extension. Loser: Chanting White Sox fans. Ordonez is almost certain to be traded, if not to Los Angeles this week than to the Yankees, Red Sox or Braves midway through the 2004 season. Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf's ownership group does not have the resources of Tribune Co., which means it must count on the development of young players like Jeremy Reed, Joe Borchard and Kris Honel constantly to replace top-of-the-market talents like Ordonez and Colon. Minnesota and Kansas City are better positioned for 2004 because they have done a better job developing (and especially keeping) players than have the Sox since Ken Williams replaced Ron Schueler as general manager. Williams traded six highly regarded prospects in 2003 and could get burned if left-hander Royce Ring (Mets for Alomar) and right-hander Ryan Rupe (Texas for Carl Everett) realize their potential as dominant pitchers. Cali
Plus the article mentions that they think Koch will probably get traded, so hopefully it's to the mets for Weathers. If so the bullpen will look f***ing fantastic. Marte Mota Williamson Weathers Wunsch Any non-tendered FA BP guys EDIT: I just noticed it would be the "MW" pen, KW better sign reliever with an M to start off his last name

DBAHO
The Mets are still trying to dump Cedeno on us, I fear. I think the Cedeno for Cirillo trade will prob go down soon hopefully. Then they've got nothin else to offer us except Weathers pretty much.
DBAHO
Also this little tidbit I found, The Chicago White Sox are said to be dangling Magglio Ordonez at the Red Sox, offering Boston something the Dodgers can't — a proven run producer to compensate for the potential loss of Ramirez and Garciaparra. While the Dodgers themselves have met with the White Sox to discuss Ordonez, sources said there have also been negotiations regarding a possible three-way trade that would send Ordonez to Boston and Garciaparra to the White Sox, who would then trade him to the Dodgers for a three- or four-player package. In addition, any two- or three-way trade talks involving the Dodgers and White Sox are complicated by the cool relationship between Evans and Sox General Manager Ken Williams. Evans spent 19 years in the White Sox front office before resigning when Williams was selected to succeed Ron Schueler. While sources said there is only the remote possibility of a three-way trade, people close to the Garciaparra camp, hopeful of bringing the Southern California native to Los Angeles, were working Tuesday to broker the deal and take it away from the potentially combustible one-upmanship of Evans and Williams. Loaiza21
Oh wow, I'd say go for it KW. That's nice compensation.
Loaiza21
This trade is going to go down. It's come so far. But the same deal has been reported on MSNBC and Williams mentioned he had to be "overwhelmed" to trade Magglio. But considering what we get and MAYBE Scott Williamson also! I'd say that's really overwhelming. What a steal.
southsideirish
Wait a 2nd? The Red Sox would get A-rod and Maggs? WTF? They would also be giving up Nomar, Manny Ramirez, and Scott Williamson. It is not like they are getting away scott free.
