Soxfest
Would be awesome but if he is here 1 and done like BC what have Sox really gained, NG to a longterm deal and I love the deal. :fthecubs
YASNY
Nomar lands here just long enough for KW to point the direction to LA.

Spiff
Nomar lands here just long enough for KW to point the direction to LA. I am not one to speculate, but if he did that, and traded Nomar for Guiellermo-f***ing-Mota, that might be the last straw.
Texsox
Sportscasters all over the country will have to learn to pronounce Garciaparra without the Boston accent.
Texsox
Another thought. If we did pull this one off, every GM in the league knows we need to dump JV. We might wind up with nothing for him.
103 mph screwball
Jose would play 2B or super utility guy before the Sox would give him away for nothing. At least that is what I'd be telling other teams if I were KW.
103 mph screwball
I'm not sure that trading Nomar would be a good idea, but I sure as hell would get other teams involved besides LA. I'd rather have Jared Washburn or Garcia than Perez because of the national league thing. The Angels and Seattle can put up some good offers. How about getting Reyes and more for him. Matsui would play second. If KW can't get a deal that makes the White Sox obviously better, then keep Nomar. BTW, does anyone know what kind of club house guy Nomar is? Can he come in and be a leader? Is he intense? Is he a cocky jerk? Is he gonna pout that he isn't in Cali? Has anyone heard how he could change team chemistry? Otis from WSI called it. Even if it doesn't go down, he said it was being seriously discussed.
UofIChiSox
Would be awesome but if he is here 1 and done like BC what have Sox really gained, NG to a longterm deal and I love the deal. :fthecubs The way I look at it is this: We probably wouldn't be able to resign Maggs after this season. We probably wouldn't be able to resign Nomar after this season. We get Scott Williamson, maybe we can resign him? That's an addition we didn't have before. Also, maybe the White Sox feel Nomar is more likely to resign with us than Maggs. Maybe Nomar and Williamson give us a better shot to win than Maggs. Then if we do win this year it makes Nomar more likely to resign. There are a lot of variables, but the bottom line, we are swapping superstars in the hopes that we'll win this year. I like the deal. Soxy
ESPN is reporting it too. It's right on their front page. Wow... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1688365
Ozzietheairedale
The whole deal is contingent on either being able to resign Garciaparra or trading him for pitching that is already locked up to multiyear deals. If there is ANY doubt about either of the above, then my vote is we keep Magglio. Obviously, other deals need to be made to shore up our pitching, but I can't see trading a fan favorite like Magglio for a guy who everybody knows wants to be on the west coast. With the market being relatively soft, I think we have a better chance of signing Magglio to a long term deal next year than signing Nomar. SoxFan1
My favorite part of the article: "The Dodgers, once thought to be a likely trade destination for Garciaparra, apparently are no longer in the picture."
Flash Tizzle
If Dream Weaver made less money, I'd send Mags to LA for him, Perez and Mota. God no, make LA suffer. Keep Weaver on the West Coast....dudes a f***ing nutcase. I rather make trades for Garcia and Perez. Rotation for 04' Buehrle Loaiza Garland Garcia Perez. No, the whole deal is contingent on if ARod is dealt to Boston. KW doesn't give a rat's ass if we can or cannot resign Garciaparra. We wouldn't be able to resign Maggs either so who gives a s*** if we can't resign Garciaparra? Did he care if we could or could not resign Colon this offseason? HELL NO. He made the deal anyways because we was getting a pitcher coming off of a 20-win season with two s*** teams....if he had done that with us we might be talking about a White Sox World Series winner, or atleast a division championship. Personally, I'm very glad that KW, and not you, is making the calls.

witesoxfan
We shall see ? Pretty much. Atleast we don't have to wait a week or more, and less then 24 hours. We'll find out VERY shortly.
Soxbadger
Why do the Mariners want Konerko? We will be amazingly lucky to get Garcia for Valentin, and that is only if Mariners planned on nontendering him. Valentin for Guillen is most likely what will go down. As for Konerko, he would join Edgar, Olerud, and Spiezo at the same position. SB

greasywheels121
I just wish Nomar would die or fall off a cliff before tomorrow's deadline of 5 pm....I would much rather do the LA deal we had standing for Mags, if it's absolutely necessary that we trade Magglio. We get so much more in that deal, and it's everything we do need. We don't need much more offense.
toasty
if we trade maggs, we NEED A BAT, and in the AL, our pitchers dont bat!

And from what we've been hearing so far....He doesn't want to be here..... And Maggs IS a good clubhouse leader? Both have very similar clubhouse personalities....play quiet, play shy, and play good baseball. So it's not like we're losing a big clubhouse leader. I've also heard he would be unhappy here. Who gives a s***? After he gets here, he'll be happy enough to want to play well, he'll have some fire in the tank, and will want to put up some good numbers so he can get a big contract from some west coast team. Who is benefitted the most? The Chicago White Sox. He's an adult. It's not like he is going to pout and quit trying if he does in fact stay here.
