witesoxfan
If the Twins think it will be a cakewalk, they are morons....if they think they will win the division, they're morons. They better be ready for a hard fought battle....if not, then we will win the division and come out of nowhere.

Chisoxfn
face facts here for a minute guys... if we cant figure out how to beat the twinkies in the baggiedome then we are f***ed.........and if we cant figure out how to beat them in our own house we are f***ed..........our big down fall last season was the twinkies and the other teams in our division.. dont think by just adding colon and koch that it changes anything.....or makes us that much better.... we still have the same fielders, lineup and such........so please be realistic........the tribe sucked last year and lost a few of their bats.. now without thome this year they may or may not suck... they always find a way to give us a hard enough time reguardless who they put on the field.......and dont sell kc short either... sure they suck but guess what.... we didnt do so hot against them the past two seasons.......the only team im really not worried that much about in our division is detroit.. and of course the rocked us a few times last season but not enough to leave a lasting impression on me..............we have got to get alot of s*** together before i would say we have the division locked and ours for the taking..........just making you guys try to think outside the box for a minute......... The lineup isn't the same. Jimenez, Rowand, Crede, Olivo, thats 4/9ths of a change. The rotation also has 2 new members, one being Rauch, the other a 20 game winner. Then the bullpen has been rejuvenated. Also, take a look at the record down the stretch for the Sox..it was pretty darn good. Also, we have a super young team that should grow, meaning they should be better next year.

Mathew
We need to get really pissed off and Hate the Twins and hopefully everyone picks them to win 'cause that would be a great start and hopefully Colon throws at Torii Hunter and Hunter throws it back, so that Colon sits on him(I hadn't jumped in with a weight joke even though I do like Colon a lot). Then Weaver pitches for New York once every 7th day and he gets the s*** kicked out of him again. I'd talk about the Tigers but I don't know anyone on their horses*** team. Who does Joe Randa play for? Ahh f*** him to. Have to look out for Milton Bradely and the Indians hahahaha.

We have nothing clinched, other than the St Louis rams and their super bowl of last January and the Miami Hurricanes and the Fiesta Bowl win. We have more players, more tools, but we still have to win the games. And that requires our ability to do, just as HSC says.

This team is going to be very talented, but they also going to have to want to win. If the players don't have the will, nothing will happen with this club. Luckily I think this team is real motivated and with a couple of clubhouse problems and a bad pitching coach gone, we should be much better this upcoming season, and I mean much better. Anything less then the division will get Jerry Manuel fired.
Cy Young Porzio
i really think they have a shot at it this year too. however with our young rotation their guys are better 4 and 5 but only for now. our offense is definately better but the twins had that great heart and i think they have a better defense, it will be a good match. baggio202
why do we keep doing this to ourselves??..every year is gonna be the sox year...then by mid season if its not working out the guys in here that are predicting 100 wins are ready to commit mass suicide... with colon our chances of winning are much better..but by no means are we a lock...i keep hearing about this young talent....young talent is the most unpredictable entity in sports....therefore no one can seriously predict that we will dominate the twins based on all this young talent...its illogical.. we are gonna have basically 4 rookies in the everyday line up...3 of the 4 are right up the middle in key defensive spots...we have no idea how olivo , crede, jimenez and rowand will respond to the everyday pressure of a division race...sure they all played great last year when the season was lost and there were 10k people in the stands...but doing it over 162 games in the heat of battle is completely different...we dont know what to expect from any of these guys... pitching...we are set at the top..but everyone is assuming garland and wright will improve on last year...is that a given??..both guys pitched almost 200 innings between them...do any of you remember tom verducci's article last year is SI called the "year after effect"???..it talked about pitchers between the ages of 21-26 that have an increase of more than 25% IP from their previous high total...about 70% of the pitchers that fall into this catagory completely fall apart the next year...garland falls into that catagory while wright is very close to it...are you guys 100% sure both wright and garland will continue to improve???....doesnt history say there is a chance one or both might backslide???.....if that happens are stil a lock???...do i even have to talk about how huge of a question mark jon rauch is??? im not saying everything bad is gonna happen but most of the posters are saying everything good will happen...so i just pointed out the other side... my feeling is i have no idea how the sox will do...i really dont...the same for the twins....if all these rooks develop like alot of you are predicting i can see 100 wins...i could see 90 losses if they dont..get an injury or 2 to key players...same with the twins...their bullpen was full of career years...if they revert to form the twins will be blowing games left and right..they could lose 100 games...but if they dont and radke, milton and mays bounce back from injury with their built in advantage in the stupid dome they could win 100 games... i think this april will be more important than any april in a long time...the division really could be won early on...because the sox are so young a good start could snowball into a real winner...a bad start could snowball us into the cellar...lets hope for the best..20 -7 april:)
Guest hotsoxchick1
ahh there is a GOD afterall.... thank you baggs for putting it out there with the emotions im feeling.... were no lock on anything... and this young talent that keeps getting shoved down our throats each year has got to f***in step and do something or get to steppin out .........im sick of going into each year with ohh yeah we have this and that we will win.. tribe did this and that they will suck, detorit is an easy target they did nothing.. kc did even less....yeah well those are the same teams year after year that kick our asses all over the place.......if we cant win against teams in the easiest division of the league then how the hell are we supposed to face the new yorks, bostons, seattles, oaklands and such in a playoff situation without getting our asses handed to us............we may be good but we aint that good....... yet.............. witesoxfan
I don't see either team being any worse than atleast .500. Baggs...I disagree on one thing. You said that the young guns didn't have any pressure on them. That's BS....they had tons of pressure on them. If they suck badly, like Harris did, you will get benched and put down on the depth chart and what not....because Harris sucked, Jimenez got a shot....now Harris is looking at, the earliest, 2004 if everything goes right, and that's just a shot....2B will probably open up with Jose's likely departure and Jimenez moving to SS...and then he still has to beat out Hummell and Nunez and whoever else. If Crede didn't do well, then he was probably going to be looked at as a guy riding the pine this year, coming off the bench as a pinch-hitter/defensive replacement/whatever else. If Rowand failed, he would be the 4th outfielder. The only one that really hasn't done anything to prove that he deserves the job is Miguel Olivo, and if HSC is right, which she is most of the time(she was wrong on Colon....no hard feelings HSC! ), then he will be a good catcher. The guy I think has the most pressure going into next year is Big Frank....if he wants to return as a star and a household name, he is going to have to put up some huge numbers....he should want to lead this team to a division title. He should want to prove that he isn't a choker come postseason time....etc etc etc. And he isn't even feeling a ton of pressure. So I don't think these guys think it's that hard....right now, it is NOT do or die for them....but it was for them for part of last year. And they know what it feels like to lose....they were all up when Minnesota clinched the division on a day where we played a 6 inning game. I just think we are going to be a very good team....and if we can snowball, as you said, we will be a very, very good team....right now, we have all the tools. We should use them now.
