103 mph screwball Posted December 17, 2003 Share Posted December 17, 2003 I've heard that the Sox will try to get back Everett from the Expos if the Magglio deal goes through. The rumor comes from Otis on WSI. Now it may be complete crap but he did call the Nomar thing a couple of weeks ago. Is it against the rules or not? Can the Sox get Everett before June 15th or not? Chisoxfn Posted December 17, 2003 Share Posted December 17, 2003 While I'm not gonna rip Otis...I still find a lot of that stuff hard pressed and I think there have been at least a few of us speculating that the Sox could get Nomar..the question always was whether they'd be willing to hold on. As far as Everett...is their a clause that says you can't sign a player and then deal him a little later? Thats the question, I don't know. Thats the question, I don't know. Yes their is, i don't know what the time frame is, but you can't trade a FA for a certain amount of days after you sign him. No sign and trades in baseball. sox-r-us Posted December 17, 2003 Share Posted December 17, 2003 I would LOVE it if this happened Nomar and Williamson for Maggs (some prospects one way or the other) Sox keep Nomar Salary status: Increase by 1 or 2 mill as Maggs makes more than Nomar this year by 1 mill and Williamson adds to slaary for this year by one mill I believe Sox dump Konerko on the Dodgers who do not have too many options left and get anything in return (even Perez and a prospect is fine with me, does not have to include Mota) Salary status: Reduce salary by 3-4 mill from this trade and overall reduction of 2 mill or so Sox then trade Valentin for Guillen to Ms Salary status: Further reduction of salary by 2 mill or so, and overall reduction of 4 mill or so Sox then trade for Everett for prospects Salary status: Add 3 mill or so ..... overall reduction stands at ~0.5mill or so Sox unload Koch on Mets for anything Salary status: Overall reduction by 6 mill or so With the 6 mill remaining, sign Rafael Palmeiro and Jeff Nelson for bullpen This ends up for us as follows (notice both left and right handed production throughout line up): Willie Harris/Rowand CF Carlos Guillen 2B FT DH Palmeiro 1B Nomah SS C Lee LF Everett RF Crede 3B Olivo C Burhle, Elo, Perez, Garland Scho for starters BullPen: Williamson, Marte, Wunsch, Jeff Nelson, Danny Wright Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

No legit source would say the Sox are going to do something that isn't available...now if in fact there is some sidebar to being able to trade them..then my bad.
