JoshPR
MLB is reporting that the Deal that would send Arod to Boston for Manny was not Aproved by the league cause ARod's Restuctured deal doesn't have the same Worth as Manny's deal. So it could be off
Chisoxfn
What a joke...is this MLB or the Union that did this? I'd have to think something will happen.
WSoxShuf
Great PR for the teams involved. Arod already probably bought a house in Boston. Nomar has been told he is not liked in Boston. Maggs well......
JoshPR
What a joke...is this MLB or the Union that did this? I'd have to think something will happen. Players Association.
aboz56
So is it officially confirmed that the deal is off?
Chisoxfn
Players Association. Figures....its such Bs that Arod can agree to the restructuring and be happy...yet it still can't fly. I understand though...the players association wants to rule the world and as long as George Steinbrenner and to a lesser extent the Boston Red Sox are still around its gonna happen. Chisoxfn
So is it officially confirmed that the deal is off? I'd say its more of a snag. And that they will have to change the restructuring.
Mr. Showtime
The union is going to present both teams with a contract they think is right. Nothing is officialy OFF.

Wise Master Buehrle
This is not over by a longshot. I think all this will go through. I am so excited... I just HAD to get the flu..
Mr. Showtime
This is from the AP: The union would get involved if there was a renegotiation of A-Rod's contract; any renegotiation would have to add some benefit for the player, according to baseball's labor contract. Like I said above, the union is going to come up with a contract and present it to the parties.
Spiff
Yeh I don't see this anywhere. I need a source.

I'd guess that they will want the Red Sox to pay interest on the deferred money and thats the holdup. Pure speculation though.
Steve Bartman's my idol
Everywhere I have looked, they say that the Union has met with The Red Sox and Arod, and that Scott Boras is flying in to join the talks, nothing about the Union rejecting the deal. aboz56
Jayson Stark is on ESPN News as we speak. Says the deal is still on. Looks like it's gonna be Manny and a young pitcher for ARod. Nomar and Williamson for Mags and a young pitcher. Says there's a few final details to work out with the money, but the deal, as Stark puts it, "appears to be on its way to a happy ending." Thats good news...although I can't figure out why the Sox need to give up a young pitcher, unless they are somehow gettin cash considerations. I think Nomar and Williamson for Maggs is fair. I hope it isn't one of our top prospects.
aboz56
Aboz, did he mention the Dodgers? He said the way he sees it, the Dodgers wanted either Mags or Nomar and it looks as if they'll get neither. Says they could shift their attention to Vlady or Pudge. WSoxShuf
He said Dodgers may be left out. Now Sox need to find a starter.

I am a happy camper right now. :fyou To all those Cub fans who said the Sox would do nothing this offseason. If this goes through, this is bigger than any of your s*** trades and signings. Losers. whitesoxfan99
It better not be Cotts or Honel. Or Wing. Anyone else I wouldn't be upset about losing.
