Queen Prawn
If ARod was pleased with the restructuring, why are they getting involved? I thought they were supposed to step in if the player takes issue with the restructuring? Maybe I understood that incorrectly, oh well. The Union won't ok restructuring unless it somehow benefits the player.
MurcieOne
The Union won't ok restructuring unless it somehow benefits the player. How about putting A-Rod in a Huge market for baseball and prolly making him another 5 mil a year in endorsements?
Queen Prawn
The Union won't ok restructuring unless it somehow benefits the player. Even if the player is pleased with the restructuring? Queen Prawn
no that's the most powerful union is sports. I wish my fiance's and my father's union were that strong. Maybe my dad would be making more than $11.25 after 20 years and my fiance would have his journeyman's card already.
SnB
this entire deal has taken the entire league hostage, get it done already!
Chisoxfn
and according to Gammons the Sox will keep Nomar.
sox-r-us
There is a part of me that will not be too sad if this deal does not go through That way, that money-mongering ass Arod will have to play for Texas for some more time, giving him no shot at the Wolrd Series Championship That way the BoSox will be stuck with Manny for that ridiculous contract Nomah will be pissed to play for the BoSox, so will Manny....leading to lots of fun in Boston Maggs will be pissed for a while, but I do not see him letting him affect his play, and he knows it is a business, and that the White Sox do not have the revenue for him anyways next year
Queen Prawn
and according to Gammons the Sox will keep Nomar. Which 'Sox' are keeping Nomar? I take you are saying the White Sox wouldn't retrade him after acquiring him? (Just checkin')

Texsox
Even if the player is pleased with the restructuring? Well, that's pretty fricken stupid. Oh freaking well. IMHO the Players Union has that in their agreement with MLB so that no player could be pressured into restructuring his contract. If there was that loop hole, clubs could pressure players to say they want to drop their salary by X dollars to help the team, etc. That's one of the advantages of associations for the members and one of the thorns for owners.
