Chisoxfn
This is from San Francisco's newspaper According to agent Dan Horwits, the A's were so close to inking left- hander Arthur Rhodes to a three-year deal that the decision might even have come last night. Rhodes was weighing offers from the White Sox and Braves, too, but Horwits said, "I would say that the A's are definitely the front-runners.'' Rhodes would be a hell of a pickup. I have no idea if this offer is still on the table...but if they get Garcia, Williamson, and keep Nomar it looks like the team is gonna spend money. I'm confused http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPGK33OSFS1.DTL
sox-r-us
I do wonder about the payroll If Colon had accepted I see no way how we could have met our payroll Add to that the fact that Kenny has said he is willing to not trade anyone if it does not help us get better, and I wonder....we will find out if/when Nomar gets here and then whether we unload a salary or not
Chisoxfn
I mean if they do all these moves...are the Sox looking and willing to go to 70 mill and say hey, if we win it this year, then we'll stay at that rate, otherwise we can let guys like Garcia guy for draft picks or deal them and the same with Nomar and all that? Harry Chappas
The A's are giving him Foulke Money $5M, we were giving gordon money $2M

I'd say this. Jerry please, please try and win next season with this nucleus. If it fails, then I'll endure another couple years of $60,000,000 payrolls and rebuilding. I promise. Looking at what we have, and knowing we may be swapping star for star, this team should win their division. Looking at what the BoSox are doing we may find our WS path with be through Boston, but I'll take my chances.

Chisoxfn
If Beane is willing to give 5 mil a season for 3 yrs to the A's then he's losing it. Maybe he's just getting ready for when he joins the Dodgers, which has been rumored to happen if the McCourt ownership goes through (He's the guy trying to buy the Dodgers). I'm confused http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPGK33OSFS1.DTL With the frugality of Uncle Jerry, the cheapest sonuvab**** in baseball(next to Selig),I know it won't happen. This is the last year i'm a weekend season ticket holder.Prices are going through the roof again(although i'm told it could be worse),and why do I see $5.00 kosher hot dogs in my future, not to mention $4.00 bottles of Diet Pepsi?? JUST SELL THE f***IN' TEAM ALREADY!!!!
