Jose for who

No way you do a Jose for Garcia... We can't ADD payroll. And I know Garcia's due something like $8MIL next season.  He's going to be non tendered in a few days.. we'll likely be able to get him for about 1/3 of that.

You're right that we'd add payroll, but I believe Seattle just signed him to a 1-year, $6 mill deal.

So we'd only add $1 mill in payroll....but I'd still rather have Guillen in both scenarios.

We do not have much leverage folks in the Val deal....remember Seattle can live with Guillen if they have to.....they know we are screwed if we get Nomar and have to unload Jose

Though I would not mind keeping Jose for 2B than letting him go, can Jose play 2B effectively?

He can play SS with a ton of range, so I see no reason why he couldn't play 2B. It would take a little bit of an adjustment, but I'm sure he can play it.

It will be either Guillen, Wynn, or Garcia.

Remember Cirillo is about to be dealt to the Mets.

And I will be happy with any of those three.  The deal won't be announced till after the whole Arod stuff goes down, but it is near finalized.

Why are they waiting I think this deal needs to happen even if the Nomar thing falls through.

Jas, I've actually heard that the Mariners-Mets deal is off, because Seattle wasn't willing to take on enough of Cirillo's salary or something to that extent.

Not sure if it's true, but if it is, it kind of throws a kink in it.

I'd prefer Guillen over Garcia in both scenarios.  We get Guillen and he can play 2B....I like that a hell of a lot more then Harris/Uribe/whoever the hell else we sign.

Whats wrong with Uribe now... If anything, he has the upside for a very solid 2nd baseman/utility fielder, or wherever we decide to put him, but either way, Uribe has got some pop in his bat, and is very speedy, Im thinking in a full season we could get 20 HR/75 RBI and a .290 avg next year....

Although, maybe his pop was from playing at Coors, but either way...

GO SOX 2004 + #45! DONT BE TRADING CARLOS NOW EITHER!
