sox-r-us
I f***ing just do not get what is so great about him? Trading Paulie for him is fine, because it is a salary dump but NO FREAKING WAY we give up Nomar for Perez and the prospects/Mota, because he is not worth it Screw Perez....I rather take my chances with Wright starting
winninguglyin83
you're not the only one. Perez is at best a Number Three starter, perhaps Number Four. He ain't worth Maggs -- or Nomar. Not even close. and remember, no matter how high they pile up extra junk, it's still junk. Melido Perez, Eddie Perez, Odalis Perez, no Perez for Maggs for me
Gene Honda Civic
I toally agree. He was a 500. pitcher basically last season, and Mota isnt a big any more especailly if we get willmison, and B.K. Kim true -- if this deal is in fact true... and i don't think Kim is included-- Perez for Konerko straight up seems like a great trade for both teams. Williamson negates the need for Mota and will give us our best team on the field for the money.
mac9001
Only way the LA deal goes down IMO is if Perez, Mota, Greg Miller and one more top 5 prospect is involved, in which case the Sox's get a great deal. It might be rebuilding, but its better than watching Nomar or Maggs leave after this season.
winninguglyin83
rebuild so the next Maggs we can develop can leave after six season? Probably so
FlaSoxxJim
true -- if this deal is in fact true... and i don't think Kim is included-- Perez for Konerko straight up seems like a great trade for both teams. Williamson negates the need for Mota and will give us our best team on the field for the money. I posted earlier concurring that having Williamson would somewhat obviate the need for Mota. In that case PK for Perez straight up as primarily a salary dump would be fine. But knowlegable people here and elsewhere today have been really high on Jackson and Miller though, so much so that the long-term upside to having them instead of worrying about how we'd ever afford Nomar after this year makes the proposed LA deals intriguing. I'm getting comfortable with the thought that it would be win/win whether we kept Nomar or got the pitchers and BOTH prospects for Nomar and PK. I just wish the A-Rod/Manny thing would happen so something can happen. An-tic-i-pation.... An-tic-i-pation.... It's makin' me wait, it's keepin' me way-ay-ay-ting. (ketchup anyone?) mac9001
rebuild so the next Maggs we can develop can leave after six season? Probably so Well, maybe in six years the Sox's will be in a better financial situation (don't know how that could be possible), but the fact is we CAN'T (or at JR won't) resign players like Maggs or Nomar. All we can hope for is to somehow stumble onto a cheap young good pitching staff that rides us into the playoffs.
mac9001
While he never wanted the same kinda money, we resgined Frank after his MVP seasons. Not right after, but what im saying is that he was an MVP with the Sox, and we kept him after. So it can be done. Yeah, but Frank took a contract with nearly half his money being deferred, Maggs or Nomar won't accept a deal like that. PLUS, someone would outbid us for Maggs or Nomar. Agreed 100% I feel the exact same way....and with the way Jas and I have been agreeing lately, I'm sure he agrees with you.
