Looks like they don't wanna giv up Weathers,

Star Ledger Article

A deal with the White Sox for closer Billy Koch might require the Mets to pay as much as half of the $10 million remaining on the final two years of Cedeno's contract, which in essence would mean they would pay $11.375 million to have Koch for one year. The Mets would want Koch to defer some salary in that case.

Newsday Article

The White Sox are offering the most talent in .return for Cedeño: Long Island product Billy Koch. New Mets pitching coach Rick Peterson had Koch in Oakland for the 2002 season, and Koch won the American League Rolaids Relief Award.

In return for Koch and his $6.4-million salary, however, the White Sox want the Mets to pay Cedeño's 2005 paycheck of $5 million, which seems to have turned off the Mets.

Good....maybe that'll make KW think twice about trading for that bum Cedeno, if the Mets get skeptical....just keep Koch. If he struggles again, no problem, he's gone after 2004 anyways.

I thought I saw that Cedeno had been traded to Seattle for Cirillo.

I thought I saw that too. Makes sense for both teams, more for Seattle though. If this did happen, they mite need Jose to play an infield spot, but they already hav Guillen and now Spiezio as well.

Here's what I saw. It wasn't quite a done deal. My mistake.

Determined to unload Roger Cedeno and having exhausted other options, the Mets decided yesterday to ship the maligned outfielder to Seattle for third baseman Jeff Cirillo, the Daily News has learned.

GM Jim Duquette was expected to call his Mariners counterpart, Bill Bavasi, last night to tell him the Mets would agree to the swap.

Cirillo is owed $15 million over the next two seasons, including the buyout of a 2006 option, and Seattle intended to release him before spring training. Cedeno has two years and $10 million remaining on perhaps the worst contract of former Mets GM Steve Phillips' regime: a four-year, $18 million deal.

The Mariners are expected to give the Mets $5 million to cover the difference.

I don't want him either. If I were Kenny, well, first of all, I would trim that ugly mustache, but second of all, I would tell the Mutts - "Look, if you want Koch, then let's stick Weathers on the table while I stick Koch on the table. If you even so much as even breathe the name 'Roger Cedeno' in my direction, I will take my chips and go elsewhere, understand? "

If that doesn't make it clear, then nothing will. Cedeno is a BUM. An underachieving BUM. Steer clear of him, unless he walks in front of your bus. :D

USA Today Baseball Weekly said that David Weathers was taken out of trade consideration (for Koch) because Weathers in Tom Glavine's golf buddy, and Glavine requested that Weathers not be traded.

No big deal, Weathers sucked with the Cubs, we don't need any of their rejects.
