He was genuinely convinced that jealous Jim and his crew made it their mission to "get him", the freedom of speech martyr. Just as you don't blame a schitzo or Tourette's for his woe, you simply have to feel sorry for BMR getting a short end of DNA strand. He can't help it, the poor sod, it's in his nature.
